Talking 102-60!!!

We finished with an amazing record of 102-60 and tied for the top spot in MLB!!!

We were led on offense by two outstanding rookies!!!

Adam Haseley was unstoppable! .340/.420/.518 for OPS of .938 and 5.4 WAR!!!

Alec Bohm (Rule 5 pick) smashed an incredible 44 homers, finished with an OPS of .828 and played very solid 1B defense!!!

Here is a look at the rest of the batting stats!

Led by a solid group of starting pitching and a lights out bullpen, here is the final pitching stats!

Cleveland beat the Angels in the Wildcard, so we will face our division rivals in the ALDS!!!

Thumbs up Off to the World Series!!!

The Detroit Tigers are off to the 2022 World Series vs the Los Angeles Dodgers!!!

Here is a look at the playoff tree so far.

Paul DeJong was ALDS MVP, hitting .586 with 4 homers in 3 games!

Ryder Jones was ALCS MVP, hitting .286 with 3 homers in 6 games!

Here is a look at how the Dodgers pitching did in the regular season.

I don't know why they aren't using Dustin May as a starter. He had an unbelievable season, leading MLB in ERA & WHIP!

Maybe they will use him as a starter, but it isn't set up that way to start.

Here is a look at how the Dodgers hitters did in the regular season.

Joc Pederson only hit .202, but his OPS was .790 with 47 homers!
He has also won a gold glove in three straight season in LF!

Alex Verdugo had more walks than strikeouts!!!

Gavin Lux missed almost the entire season (played 5 games).

Corey Seager has been out since the start of September. His return is unknown.

Talking 2022 World Series Champions!!!

We did it! The Detroit Tigers are your 2022 World Series Champions!!!

Joe Jiminez blew the save in the top of the 9th, but Alec Bohm hit a walkoff two run homer in the bottom of the 9th!!!

Here is the box score from game 6!

Here is how the 9th inning went down from the game log.

Probably what I am most proud of is how much production we were able to get out of all of our pre-arbitration players.
We were only paying 5 players more than the league minimum and one of those was our backup catcher!

We had three veteran relief pitchers being paid entirely by the team we acquired them from (or others also in the case of Andrew Miller).

Excellent job! You really worked wonders with this team and they look to be built for the future as well. Good luck on the repeat!

Cool First trade of the offseason!

We have four players we have decided to non-tender in arbitration.

Two Relievers

Giovanny Gallegos - Too much money for a middle reliever IMO.

Eric Hanhold - I think we can find someone better and he is out of options.

Two Batters

Grayson Greiner - Good defensively, atrocious offensively (career OPS .635).

Braden Bishop - We just have too many other outfielders on the 40 man that can't play in AAA any longer.
We might end up keeping him and trading away a pre-arbitration player or two.
He had a "breakout year" of sorts by hitting for a .743 OPS in about 300 plate appearances.
He is only 29 and very good defensively, but it's a numbers game right now.

Rather than letting them walk for nothing, we will shop them around and take whatever we can get for them.

First Trade

Started with Grayson Greiner. There wasn't many teams interest, and some had multiple better catcher options that didn't make sense.
The one team that could actually use him is San Diego.

Here is a look at the trade we came up with.

We add two infielders for depth. They're both 23, so you never know.
Neither fits the corner infielder "profile", so we will try them at 2B/SS in AA to start 2023.
I also love that Jonny Homza is from Alaska haha!

Next we will see what we can do with Braden Bishop. His brother is over in Tampa system, maybe we look to them for a trade!

Arrow Braden Bishop for Alek Manoah!!!

The outfield in Toronto was abysmal last year.
Jake Cave was their CF for 155 games, and here is his batting line:

.206/.250/.422/.672 ... OPS+ of 79, wRC+ of 83, WAR of 0.5
His slugging was inflated due to the 33 homers he hit.
He is also a 50 overall CF on the 20/80 scale.

His 2021 season was even worse. OPS of .605 and struck out a league high 249 times.
His OPS+ was 64 and his WAR was -0.7.

Anyways, they are looking to upgrade so we will send them Braden Bishop.

We will also be sending them Angel Ozuna.

In return we will be picking up the 10th overall pick from the 2019 draft, Alek Manoah!

Alek made his MLB debut last year after skipping AAA altogether (he's only made 13 starts at AA too).

They mostly used him as a reliever (even though their rotation is not good).

Thankfully, he didn't accrue a full season of service time and did not burn an option year for 2022.

The soon to be 25 year old will most likely start the year for us in AAA. You can never have too much pitching.

We are also going to pickup Emanuel Vizcaino. He did decent in AA for 12 starts last year. That is probably where he starts the season.
With the 45 stamina, he might become a relief option over being a starter.

Gallegos is off to Colorado!

I went back and forth on whether or not to just keep Gallegos, but he would only be a middle reliever for us most likely.

So here is the trade we are making with Colorado.

Here is Giovanny Gallegos profile.

We had to add in someone to make it work, and we settled on Kelvin Smith.

In return we will be getting back two relievers. Neither has pitched in AA yet, so that is likely where we start them in 2023.

The first is Joan Adon.
Good swap for the Rockies since they signed him in June after his release from Washington.

We will also receive Daniel Federman.
I love picking up guys like this where we have time to see if they can become an MLB reliever or not.
He is a 2nd rounder from the 2020 draft, so he doesn't need to be rule 5 protected.
65 stuff potential and if his curve can develop we might have something.

At the end of the day, better to pick up someone to fill a roster spot rather than non-tendering.

That said, I don't think I will bother tendering Eric Hanhold a contract. I think we can find a replacement from within or on a MiLB signing.

Cool Goodbye Ryder Jones!

Sometimes, tough decisions come about when building a dynasty.

We have decided it was time to move on from Ryder Jones. He just got almost $5 million in his first arbitration year.
We have an influx of MLB ready infield talent, so it makes sense to make this move now while his value is high.

Here is a look at his profile.

And here are his career MLB batting stats (.748 OPS).

We needed to add in Jack O'Loughlin to make the deal work.

The big piece we are adding to our prospect pool is Brett Baty.
He was 21st overall in 2019 in our sim (12th IRL).

Here is his profile. We won't be using him as a 2 way player.
He might be the eventual replacement for Ryan McMahon.

Here are his MiLB stats so far.

We also pick up (another) reliever Resly Linares.
I believe he was a starter, but after a torn UCL in 2019 he lost his stamina and has been a reliever.
He should definitely be pitching in AA or even AAA.

Arrow Another trade!!!

We have decided to move Deivi Garcia to the Mets!

Here is a look at Deivi Garcia, who we claimed off waivers during the offseason before 2021.

He was really good in the minors after we claimed him, but he is now "fragile" and probably would be in AAA or our bullpen.

The Mets were willing to give up a few interesting prospects. The first is Jackson Rutledge!

He was a first rounder in 2019, but he didn't sign (went 17th overall IRL too). Since he was only re-drafted in this past draft, we will able to retain his services for many years ahead.

The second guy we were able to pick up is Will Robertson. He was a 2nd rounder in 2019.
This guy has hit at every level in the minors and would have a lesser role on an NL team.
He could be a DH option for us in the not so distant future.

The third player we were able to add is a long term play with an interesting player profile named Jimmy Beard.

He is from "Kill Devil Hills, NC" which I found far too amusing.

Cool Cavan Biggio off to the Mile High City!

Looking at our current infield, Cavan Biggio was going to be relegated to backup. $2.75 million for a backup is too much for me personally.

So now is the time to let him go off elsewhere and be a starter. Here is the trade to Colorado!

Here is Cavan's profile. He is a captain, but his career OPS is .750.
His first full season with us was outstanding, but the last two have been below average.
I like his eye, base running and his defense, but it is replaceable internally.

Colorado does have two shortstops in Garret Hampson and Brendan Rodgers (so one of them could play 2B in theory).

We are also sending them Gio Arriera. He is only 24 and only has one season at AAA, but his career MiLB stats are unimpressive.

The first player we are getting back is left fielder Garrett Bodine. He was 15th overall in 2021 out of college. It will be interesting to see how he hits throughout the minors (only been in rookie ball so far).

The second player we are getting is first baseman Grant Lavigne. He was 42nd overall in 2018.
He did very well in AA last year, so it will be interesting to see how he fairs in AAA this coming season.

Red face Rule 5 draft before 2023 season

We didn't make any selections this time around, but we did lose one player in Reynaldo Rivera.

He was 57th overall in 2017 (picked right after Corbin Martin coincidentally).

He did show good numbers in back to back season of high A and double A, but we just added a bunch of new up and coming hitters.

I will be interested in seeing if he gets returned to us, or if Atlanta find a way to keep him for the season.

Note: He was returned to us after spring training.

Cool The 2023 Season is Upon Us!

Here is a look at the preseason predictions for the AL for 2023.

Here is the pitching staff to start the season.

Two of our pitchers will start the season on the IL.

First is Albert Abreu, who has been out since last August.

Second is Kyle Zurak, who should be back mid April.

Here is a look at our batters to start the season.

We will need to find someone to take Paul DeJong at some point this season, I think.
We are only paying him $1.8 million, but it will be $2.5 million next season.

I would like to play him at 2B, but we don't have a spot for Max Schrock if we do that. No one wants Schrock because he is now making $5.25 million.

Talking Big trade to Announce!!!

We had Albert Abreu ready to return from his rehab assignment (after being out since last August) and we needed to make a move for a starter.

Our options were to either demote Alex Faedo, or trade one of Rogelio Armenteros or Spencer Turnbull.

Rogelio didn't have as much value, since he has had a poor start to his season, but Spencer had decent trade value.

We decided to use this value to package him with Max Schrock (and his $5+ million dollar contract).

So here is the trade we have made with the Mariners.

Here is Spencer Turnbull.

Here is Max Schrock. He has had a really down year, and we have plenty of infield depth.

In return we will be getting Luis Torrens to be our backup catcher (they're retaining 40%).

Also, we pickup Dexter Jordan Jr. I think him because he has the defensive ratings to play anywhere on the field (aside from catcher).

Here is Albert Abreu who is coming off the IL.

Also, we have decided it is time to callup Bobby Witt Jr. The manager wants to bench Isaac Paredes (.918 OPS in 50 games), but we are going to force Witt Jr. to 2B so we can keep both bats in the lineup.

Talking Team update at the 2023 Draft!!!

Here is the league standings and leaderboards!

We arrive at the draft with the best record in MLB!

Here is how our pitching staff has done so far. Check out the season Beau Burrows is having!

Also, Joe Jimenez has been absolutely dominant so far!

We lost Casey Mize for the season back in April.

And we just lost another starter for the season in Alex Faedo.

Here is how our hitters have done so far. Check out the season Paul DeJong is having!

Jeren Kendall has been sent to AAA and Parker Meadows has been recalled to take his spot.

Julio Esteban Rodriguez was optioned to AAA when we acquired Luis Torrens.

Franklin Perez was optioned to AAA (his last option year) when Corbin Martin came off IL (mid May).

Thumbs up 2023 Draft Results!

Here are the top 5 draft selections from the 2023 draft!

Jake Bennett - Lefty college starter, soon to be 23 and has the potential for a 5 pitch arsenal.

Jimmy Schulenberg - Towering 6'9" high school first baseman (future DH maybe).

Danny Kotora - Another college lefty starter, just turned 21 and has the potential for a 6 pitch arsenal.

Chris Whitaker - Lefty hitting high school second baseman, hasn't turned 18 year, was committed to Georgia.

Isak Antonsen - Righty high school starter, just turned 18, "durable", high stamina & hold runners plus groundballer with velocity.

Smile July 21 Trade Frenzy!

So... we simmed forward to just after the All-Star break and took a look at the team.

Here is what the standings look like at this point in the season.

Here is a look at our pitching stats for players on the 40 man. Albert Abreu is out 3-4 weeks. Bryan Garcia has been sent to AAA. We made a trade to acquire Alex Claudio from SF.

Here is a look at our batting stats for players on the 40 man. Wenceel Perez is out 5 weeks with a fractured finger.

Paul DeJong has been great with the bat, not so much on defense at SS. Also, Bobby Witt Jr. has been struggling, so we are going to send him back to AAA for the time being.

We will move DeJong to 2B since we are making this trade with the Mets to get a new SS.

Here is a look at Jeren Kendall. I thought he might be a good option in LF, but it hasn't worked out so far.

Here is a look at Luis Guillorme. They are retaining 50%.

Since we moved our starting LF (and didn't really have anyone ready in AAA), we are making this trade with our AL Central foes the Twins.

Here is Max Kepler. They are retaining 100%.

Here is Jose DeLaCruz. He was rule 5 eligible and doesn't really look like a MLB prospect to us.

Still trying to decide if we to add one more starter and move Franklin Perez back to AAA. We will see what the asking prices are as we get to the deadline.

Thumbs up We weren't going to add a starter ...

And then this happened...

We could probably have called up someone from AAA, but that cupboard is pretty bare (two starters with 2 star overall ratings, neither with much AAA experience).

So we went to the trade block to look for a starter. Here is the trade we are making with Washington.

Here is a look at Jose Quintana.

They wanted Elvin Miguel Rodriguez for some reason.

We are done making moves and we will sim forward until the end of the season. I will post any updates along the way.

Talking Start of the 2023 Postseason!!!

Here is how the final standings/leaderboard looked. We finished with the second best record in the MLB!

Milwaukee won 83 games and won the NL Central!

Here is how our pitching staff did this season. Players with the "dot" beside them are on our playoff roster.

Here is how our batters did this season. Players with the "dot" beside them are on our playoff roster. We are going to use Wenceel Perez at SS to start.

We will be facing off against the White Sox in the ALDS! They have a pretty outstanding middle of their lineup!

Arrow Eliminated by the Angels!

We managed to get by the White Sox in the decisive game 5 of the ALDS.

But we ended up losing in game 7 to the Angels in the ALCS!

The Angels went on to win the World Series!

Also, Ramon Laureano won World Series MVP, but only made 3 starts (he did hit two homers in game 1).

Time to head in to the offseason prior to the 2024 season!!!
