Maybe not golden age but I personally would like Cincy broadcasters (for a LONG time)

Marty Brennaman: "And this one bleongs to the Reds!!"

Joe Nuxhall "This is the old left hander rounding 3rd and heading for home"

unless its' a propriatory setup, that's basically what xml files are is text. It's just a matter of seeing how it's formatted and edit to your hearts content.

And Prof, this looks like a VERY awesome project. I wait with much anticipation

Some Examples...'Cause I'm Killing a Few Minutes

From 1964: broadcasting a critical late-season Pirates-Reds game back to St. Louis for Harry Caray and Jack Buck:

gee, that's a big run there at third...
A BALL IS BUNTED ON THE SQUEEZE!...
WE SCORE!
Jerry May executed a perfect squeeze bunt...
and they were looking for anything but that...
and the Bucs put on a perfect suicide squeeze...
--- froze and the ball was bunted along third...
the Bucs lead 1-0

(later in the top of the 16th)

McBean on occasion, has you know, been called a hot dog...
he calls himself that...
but, uh, one time he said, "You think I'm a hot dog now, wait 'til I win 20"...
1-2 pitch...
a ground ball...
Schofield's got it...
to second throws...
it was off the bag...
but he grabbed and tagged him...
one out.

CARAY: TWO MORE! LET'S GO! A 1-2-3 and out! No thrills. You've worked a tremendous job, Jim...

a ground ball hit to Schofield...
'The Duck' is up...
throw to first...
two outs, Harry!

CARAY: ONE MORE BABY!

two out...
one more out and your Redbirds will be in first place...
you can see the pressure on the Bucs!
I mean, Virdon is walking 'round in circles out in center field...
Mota was doing the same thing in right...
and Mazeroski drawing little designs with his feet down at second base...
no balls, two strikes on Pinson...
McBean is ready...
here come's the pitch to Vada...
it's a ground ball to the right side...
Mazeroski has it...
you're in first place Harry!

CARAY: HEY-HEY!!!!

-------------

September 1969, the call of Bob Moose's No-Hitter:

two men out in the ninth inning...
and Moose...
one out to go to golden glory...
Bobby is set...
here's the pitch...
just missed inside, a ball, one and one...
now Grammas has moved Oliver another step off the line...
he was hugging the line...
and he and Cash are fairly close up...
the outfield is around toward right...
with Jeter a very shallow left-center...
here's the pitch...
fastball inside...
two balls and a strike...

Casper leads off second...
the score now is not too important...
4-0 Pittsburgh...
Bobby is set...
here's the pitch by Moose...
got 'em out...
SECOND BASE...
BOBBY MOOSE THROWS A NO-HITTER!
THEY'RE CARRYING HIM OFF THE FIELD!
BOBBY MOOSE THROWS A NO-HITTER!
Before 58,000 at Shea Stadium...
and everyone is standing...
and the stout hearted 28-year-old from Export, PA is getting a standing ovation...

And for the Jim Woods finale:

from 1978, you'll recognize this game

Mike looking into the Red Sox dugout...
and the crowd, ever so quiet...
they haven't been this way much today...
still a ways to go in this one...
and this is Fenway...
and this is for the whole big boodle, baby!
all of it...
to see who goes on to Kansas City tonight...
...
...
alright...
Dent finally gets back up and ready to go...
one ball, one strike on Bucky...
Chambliss the runner on second...
White on at first...
and the crowd starts to build it up again...
Torrez in trouble...
got a big out in the pinch-hitter Spencer...
Mike is set...
here's the pitch...
THERE'S A DRIVE TOWARD LEFT...
and Yastrzemski will...
watch it go into the screen...
and the Yankees lead 3-2...

My hard drive...

You can pay to get some complete games from MLB.com, and I have a few of those. I also have hours upon hours upon hours worth of other items gleaned from various and sundry sources over the years.

I've tried to get at least a few examples of the work of every MLB broadcaster I come across.

Tom [Cheek] and Jerry [Howarth]: Check!
Dave Van Horne: Check!
Jacques Doucet: Check!
Elliott Price: Check!

There is one clip, from the Expos final game, that is an absolute tear-jerker. I'm pretty sure Price is the main guy at the mic, but it is post-game and they run a montage of calls from throughout Expos history set to music. Awesome!!! And very, very, sad. During their last season, when playing the Marlins, they also had Van Horne come over into their booth (from Florida's) to call one last inning...and his closing was heart-rending as well. I'll have to dig it out and transcribe his final farewell. It was great.

Dave's farewell to Expos fans:

Let me leave you with this, Elliott...
To Rusty and Beatsy, Singy and Jorgy...
Stoney and Frenchy, Bach and Cy and L.P...
Hawk, Crow and Rock...
Woody, Ross the Boss and the Kid...
Eli, Gully, Scotty, Charlie and Scoop...
The Cat and Marquis...
Walk and Mo,
El Presidente and Pedro,
Cliffy and Rondell
and Orlando and Michael
and Jose and Vladdy...
Now...
if you know what I'm talking about...
you get the picture...
a wealth of wonderful memories...
[tearing up]
and I know, as Expos fans...
you won't let go of that

that, plus the montage = :tears: (if you're a sap like me)

I'd like to second the Uecker request.

Dizzy Dean would be funny to have.

Dave Neiheus if you can write in long rambling stories at odd times in the XML.

I grew up listening to Vince Skully do the Dodger games.

"There's a high drive to deep left field...
"... Stargell goes back...
"... to the track...
"... to the wall...
"... it's gone."

Not being familiar with it, can you do team specific pbp? or is it all in one big generic file (if anyone can say without violating anything)

Professor,

Can you download those games from MLB and listen to them forever or are they tied to the site and you can only listen to them when you are a member of the site?
