Torn UCL

Poor Mr. Romanek, can't catch a break.

July 2001 - Torn UCL - Out 12 months
July 2002 (1 week back from previous injury) - Torn UCL - Out 11 - 12 months
Feb 03 - 8 months later, suffers rehab setback - out 7-8 months
Aug 03 - 6 months later, suffers rehab setback - surgery req'd, out 15 months.

Only 21 and hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors yet, not looking like he ever will either.

Does a ucl injury lower the overall or potential ratings of pitchers or not?

It definitely has a long-term effect on both their durability and ratings. Once they start down those arm/shoulder injury roads, it's hard for them to maintain success in my experience.

Reading this reminds me of Jonny Venters who had multiple UCL surgeries then I found on Google that Ex Dodgers Korean pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo has the record with 4 TJ surgeries! wow
