19 Skaters?
There seems to be a bug in historical seasons around, I'd say, pre-80s seasons where you aren't allowed to dress more than 19 skaters on your roster. I don't know if anyone else has had trouble starting historical seasons around this time like I have, but this seems to be a common problem in any historical season I've tried to start before the 80s.

19 skaters, or 19 players total? That's what the lineup size is supposed to be in those seasons.

I'm not sure I follow. If that's what the lineup size is supposed to be, why is Doug Jarvis playing two positions at once? Maybe I shouldn't dress my backup goalie to add an extra skater?

Yeah, if you have the AI selecting lines it'll do that with the 17-skater configuration. It doesn't actually affect the usage of the duplicated player, when the fourth line gets used the in-game line management will fill one of those spots with someone else.
