You start a conversation, you can't even finish it.
You're talking a lot, but you're not saying anything. When I've got nothing to say, my lips are sealed. Say something once, why say it again?

Apparently, the OP believes someone has access to his account... enough access to change things. Personally, I think that's impossible unless someone has your name and password. First thing I would do is change my password. Let also point out that there have been plenty of times I have made changes, only to find out that they didn't stick. Any time you depend on the network to either upload or download data, you can be victim to databits going astray.

That´s interesting and hopefully it doesn´t turn out to be the case. But there is a huge difference between "monitoring the activity" of players and hacking into their accounts.

Being fair, for someone that doesn't understand the technical environment, it can feel like someone looking over your shoulder.

Most certainly, and though we are having a bit of fun here I surely don´t discount that the OP is truly concerned for what may be (or not) a legitimate reason. I just think contacting the devs would have been a more suitable, and less embarrassing option. On the other hand, it has spiced up Sunday a bit.

Well, if he's hacked, time to change password and maybe ask the dev for assistance and advice too.
Also, no stalker is going to stop stalking just because you say stop. Same goes for hacker. I would even argue that the criminal is going to mess with you more cuz he clearly see an reaction out of you. Good luck, OP. Last edited by Goliathus; 06-30-2019 at 02:56 PM. |

In a world with millions of compromised computers, it is pretty likely that some OOTP users have an infected computer that can easily be accessed by others.
Is OOTP a game/program targeted by hackers? Certainly not....it provides little value in terms of re-sale and messing with your account is just a waste of time for anyone interested in making money. But someone may try to keylog your username/password just in case it matches the one you use for banking or other important tasks (hint: always use separate passwords for important data). To be on the safe side, check your computer with a good up-to-date security program and make sure you are not infected. As others have pointed out, OOTP can be tricky. If you don’t hit enter when you enter certain settings, they don’t stick. Always double check that they have been changed, click submit and log out/back-in to be sure. Also, I have seen some ballparks end up with crazy random numbers during Entry league. I don’t know what exactly triggers this.

Someone is free to hack my teams. Not like they can make them worse.

I’d be glad for them to stalk mine and maybe give me some advice. They are doing a heck of a lot better than me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would suggest people stop using "password" as their password.

Well, I still prefer managers who mostly manage their own team and aren't all up in other team's strategies. I've noticed it's fine for managers to scout whatever info they can about other teams, but yeah... I like that song, too. ha. And we've finished the conversation now. It took quite awhile because the opening was all I had to say initially.

Last thing
was a Perfect Team rookie at the time. I’ll admit that. I guess in a way I wasn’t expecting an experience much different from an OOTP 18 mode sim that I did offline….you know? I will say that subjectively the incident happened just as reported…that kind of thing is hard to argue with the person who experienced it, there’s a lot of proof out there that EVERYONE fabricates THEIR version of reality to the best of their ability (reality is OUT THERE, we filter things just the way we do)…an interesting psychic phenomenon…thanks for kind of pointing that out HRBaker…(so that was one of my early reactions to the online ‘scouting’ aspect of PT.)
The only other two identifiable problems I’ve had since the incident are confirmed phantom log-ins (program open and PT being logged into when I’m away from the computer) & being denied access with a dialog that someone else was logged into my account on another device whereas I only ever have one on. I’m aware it’s not my place to tell others what to do when it just ain’t. We’ve done a pretty great job of keeping these leagues problem-free and running well unless there’s a bunch of stuff I’m not aware of. When a friend of mine came over & I showed him the format, the first thing he said (after “your lineup is stacked”) was “Couldn’t the other teams be using computers to win?” I nodded in agreement & thought “Yeah, and I’m doing what I can do.”

While winning is great, i am more concerned about acquiring players through the collections. i was going to start all of my 2019 Live White Sox this current week just to see how they do. I have all these cool players to play, why not play them? i started basically the same team that brought me to the playoffs in whichever Silver league i was in last season after having the most wins in the league and then flaking out in the postseason.
