1969 Mets Replay
I just finished a 1969 MLB replay using historical lineups and transactions. I nominally managed the Mets but I always used the original lineups for each game, and mostly used real-time sim to play the games, so the actual managing I did was very limited.
The results were these: Just as in real life, the Orioles, Twins and Braves won their divisions. The only difference was in the NL East, where my Mets won only 90 games instead of the 100 the real team won. In terms of individual players, the glaring gap in performance was turned in by Tom Seaver, who went 12-14 for me while he went 25-7 in real life. I think Seaver's ratings may have been too low. He was rated a 57 overall by the game, compared to, say, 66 for Steve Carlton. I'm considering doing another 1969 replay, but this time I'll manually raise Seaver's overall rating to a 66 and see if that helps my Metsies win the championship they so richly deserve. Any thoughts? P.S. The Pirates won the NL East, winning 97 games to finish 7 games ahead of my second-place Mets. Playoffs start tomorrow. |

Did you use single-season or career mode? I've simmed the '69 season many times. The Pirates almost always over-perform compared to real life. I don't know why.

I did use single-season too. Thanks for the info. It's helpful to know that others have had similar results.
