40 man roster question

I'm nearing the Sept 1 roster expansion in my first season and have a major starter on the 60 day DL (so not on the 40 man) who will be ready to activate roughly 3 days after expansion. I already went through this point once and it turned out, he wasn't reinstated to the 40 man at expansion. I went back to an old saved game so it's two days before expansion again so how do I either add him to/save him a spot on the Sept 1 roster? Thanks in advance for any help.

When a player comes off the 60-day DL you have to add him back to the 40-man roster. So if you don't have space left on it, you'll have to DFA someone else to make room.

If he's on the DL he'll still be playoff eligible so that should not be a problem.

Hmm... ... only if he's on the 40-man which he isn't if he's on the 60-day DL. At least that's the way OOTP does it. I put all my DL players on the 40-man in September to deal with this issue. Once Playoff Rosters are to be set you can put players on the "playoff DL".
