AI trading/Cap logic and contract management?

Have these been improved at all in FHM 5? Anyone in the know that can give some insight? Are contracts that the AI gives out realistic? I mean they will never mimic real life since the cap doesn't go up in the game but i know in versions past i saw some pretty weird contracts given out. Usually under payments to players which annoyed me because with the AI giving out lesser contracts or player demands being less you could often sign all your big named players without ever running into many cap issues. For me when your team is close to the cap and you have to make those tough decisions as to who to keep and who to let go make a game realistic and super fun in my eyes. It's fun to have to make those tough decisions if you're a GM. Adds to the immersion.

No permission to go into details but i can tell you that the trade engine has improved by, imho, a large chunk

The trade engine never was this games biggest problem. At least not in 4. What is a problem are weird player demands. For example Kucherov in TB had another great season where he put up a point per game then he demands only a 2 year contract. A player of that stature would be looking for 6 years minimum and almost certainly an 8 year extension. I tried bumping up his salary by 4 million on an 8 year deal and he declined. If they are a superstar and or putting up lots of points players should have pretty big demands. Hopefully this is different in FHM 5 but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Those days are over...I won´t tell you more for now as you´ll see it yourself next week but just one quick example: in a test game i did, Artemi Panarin hit FA and demanded over 7mil/6y AND a NTC - pretty realistic

In real life I think he might get more than that however where the cap doesn't go up in FHM yes that's pretty realistic. Sometimes when I see contracts given out in these games that seem to be on the low side I have to remember that the cap doesn't go up.

I can't speak for modern NHL game, because I played it little compared to historical mode(s) and euro leagues, but in historical modes sometimes I could get star players in Roy and Karlsson type of deals.

Speaking of this... does the cap go up in FHM 5?
