2040 - General Discussion

Not really following my team too closely in OOTP19 anymore but I got promoted up to perfect league for the first time this season.

Getting hammered, 9-18 but somehow coming 2nd in runs in my league and tops in batting average. That 30th in ERA isn't pretty though.

My main team, the Hoboken Zephyrs, was in a 24-team Perfect League last season and they fell apart in September, leading to relegation. Tweaked my park factors to gain some offense and while that worked, my usual good pitching has been getting destroyed. Apparently my defensive squad hasn't tolerated the increase in XBHs as well as I would have hoped. At least they're hanging around at 13-14.

The Port Washington Pack Rats fell in 7 games in the LCS to remain in Gold. Fortunately, pack luck has really been in my favor recently, as I pulled Freddie Freeman and Heinie Zimmerman over the past couple of days. Currently sitting at 14-12 and in 3rd place in the division. Suffering from some early bad luck, as they're -3 on their Pythag record currently. Should be in good shape for the rest of the season I think.

Another week with my three Gryphon teams split. May try something different next week and get them back together...

In the meantime, Blues are off to a rare good start in P416, leading the NC Central. A couple familiar strong teams in the AC here in the SF 49'ers, Brooklyn Dodgers and IB Breakers. I think there are only 7 perfect titles in P416 and the 49'ers and I have 5 of those. Who knows how it'll shake down.

Gold is also off to a decent start in P413, battling the tough St Paul Saints in the NC Central, a couple games out but leading the WC. Added 93 Maddux to the rotation this year so we'll see what that does to the team that won the P401 WS last week as a bit of a surprise. P416 has 9 Perfect titles, and teams like the Chicago Skunked, Great White Sharks, GIMHAE Kings, Suicide Kings and Yonkers Stompers I've seen before.

Red is staggering out of the gate, trying to stay upright. P421 is a tough go, with 17 WS at the Perfect level, including Singapore Slingers (5), New Orleans Brees (2), Great Lakes Squirrels (2), and Seoul Scumbags (2) with multiple. My old pal Orcin's Louisville Cardinals are here too. It'll be a tough fight with my weakest team going up against the strongest league of the three. May be a more realistic goal trying to stay above the cut line rather than winning anything this week for Red.

How many perfect level titles in that league (if you don't mind counting)?

Really makes you appreciate how impressive the Everett Aqua Sox and their 10 perfect level titles are.

Looks like there must be some tough competition or weird park factors going on when so many successful team are having such a rough year.

Finally cracked that nut, after 5 unsuccessful seasons, the 6th was the charm for the Tucson Sidewinders, who will host a wildcard game for first time in Diamond. Came up only one game off the division and 2nd seed in the playoffs, so we definitely got a shot. Satchel Paige is fully rested for the start, so hopefully we can catch fire and I can put a team with a single diamond card in the perfect leagues.

Healy did what Healy does, winning around 90 games to make the playoffs. Let's see if we can get back to the World Series; it's been a while!

The Hoggs fought their way back from being down 3-1 in the Sub-League Series to win 4-3 and move on to the Diamond Level Series. We're facing the Etobicoke Eagles, who play in an extreme left-handed hitters ballpark. We've adjusted our lineup and bullpen as best we can for the opening 2 games in their house, so let's see what happens!

Either way, Healy are back up to Perfect next season, where I'm sure we'll get beat up again, as our lineup isn't vastly different from the one that played there last time. Our pitching is improved, though, so maybe we'll be a bit more competitive.

The Port Washington Pack Rate are in the Gold Series, so they'll be making a trip back to Diamond next season. Won Game 1 behind Old Hoss. Guy puts in work and delivers. 3-0 this postseason with a 2.90 ERA.

Hoboken Zephyrs went 86-76 in their first season back in Diamond after being relegated from Perfect. The more offensive ballpark didn't really help the team's record or run differential, but I did win a batting title with Garry Maddox and a home run title with Gavvy Cravath (91 OVR).

Close but no cigar! The Hoggs lost their Diamond Level Series 4-2. Congrats to the Etobicoke Eagles!

Quick exits for both my Gryphon Gold and Blue team after great regular seasons. Gold lost in the WC game in P413 after tying for the division lead and requiring an extra game. Lost both. Blue dominated their division only to lose to the WC winner 3-2 in P416.

Congrats to all champs this week and let's do it again!

Wow many congrats... puts you into some elite company there. Still a few away from the Everett Aqua Sox but definitely in rare air for sure!

Just realized George Sisler grabbed the P416 MVP award this season. So losing in the Divisional series hurts a little less now. I can't say for sure but this might be the first time one of my players won the MVP. I've had a couple Best Pitcher awards...

Also the batting champ with a .335 / 31HR / 105RBI / 113R / 67SB line and 7.5 WAR. Great year.

Very nice season. If my perfect Babe ever hit .331 I would faint.
