What Does Each Coach Effect?

I've been playing OOTP since 8 I think this is something I have never been quite sure about and have not been able to find any other threads on. I am curious as to what the coaches effects on players. I ask because I have gone through a few seasons in 12 and my pitching staff has struggled each year regardless of who's there.

I am curious as to whether a coaching staff only effects player development or whether they effect performance as well (i.e. would a decent pitcher pitch poorly because of a lack of pitching help on the coaching staff?).

I also was curious as to what exactly each of the coaches effect. I have always worked off the rule that the manager and bench coach effected each player's overall development and that only "teach veteran/rookie/players" was relevant to them, and that "teach hitting" and "teach pitching" were the only relevant ratings to hitting and pitching coaches respectively.

Anyways, anyone that could shed some light on my confusion would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think coaching has a huge effect, but that's based on personal experience not data crunching. It might be that your scout is over-rating your pitching staff, and that's why they aren't performing up to expectations.

Manager affects fielding, hitting, pitching. Bench coach affects fielding. Batting coach affects hitting. Pitching coach affects pitching.

I think "rookie" applies to players up to age 25. Can't remember when "veteran" starts to kick in - maybe 6 years in the league or maybe age 30. But I think teach "rookie", "players" and "veterans" applies to all the coaches, not just managers.

I agree, coaching is there but I don't believe it will make or break you. I'd like to believe that how they handle rookies / veterans / players also plays into a player's personality rating. If a player is upset, maybe the manager can calm him if he's good at it. That's based on my imagination of how I think it should work, not any data or knowledge.
