Level of competition effects
Playing as the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL, I'm looking in my training screen and half my roster is affected by the "level of competition" in their development. Maybe 2/3 of these players are 1.5 stars, with the other 1/3 being 2 stars.
How dire is the impact on development? With the depth chart being pretty slim pickings behind these guys, I'm unable to send a lot of these players down to an appropriate level, and it would suck to have half the roster ruined completely. |

Slows it a bit, but in the junior age bracket it's not going to be that significant in the overall picture - at that age, players with any significant amount of potential are going to improve rapidly unless they've got a really ridiculous number of negative factors stacking up against them (bad coaching, underuse, unhappiness, etc. in addition to the competition level.) For somebody with really high potential, it may decrease their odds of ever completely fulfilling that potential, but that won't be evident until they're long gone from junior.
