1871 league start question
I'm fairly new to all of this, so my apologies if this has already been brought up before.
Since the Lahman database cannot be used to start a league prior to 1901, why can't 100 years be added to the dates in the database and then imported and used normally? If 1871 becomes 1971, everything should import properly. True, there would have to be some minor adjustments to the initial database, such as adding additional teams to create an even number, maybe adjusting the player statistics to incorporate a full season, etc. But other than the dates being off by 100 years, it seems like it would alleviate the need to do any other work arounds or creation of fictional leagues to get started.

Sorry this was repeated. It told me I was logged out when I tried to post this the first time, but it showed up anyway. My apologies!

You can use the database as early back as 1871... it's just that there is no easy startup for it. Basically, you have to create the historical league from scratch.
a quickstart league has been created here, though: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=122347 |
