Home field failed in my final also. My 134-win team starts on the road against the 131-win San Angelo Warbirds. I have battled pretty evenly with the Warbirds all week in tourneys, so I think it will be a great matchup.

Quick update (busy day for me today)... The Raccoons are in the WS after winning the LCS 4-1. Now we face 116 W, 7 time perfect champ Fog Town Stars. They're a mini-whale like us, so at least we have a decent chance of winning.
Edit: The Stars got home field advantage so it worked out correctly in our league (we only won 101 games).

...but Huntley scored more! Edited to add that Huntley (123-39) was incorrectly awarded home-field advantage in the finals over Texas (125-37). Huntley's run differential was way better, +540 to +394, so perhaps that's how the bug is awarding this?

Here, I am wondering if maybe all the National Conference champs got home field. Out of the blue, but it's true for two...leagues I've seen, and thought it might not be based on anything in particular...maybe something to do with the tournaments too...?
Make that three. I'll need a few more to confirm this suspicion. Looks like it may be the NC in all of the series.

Doubledays were one of 4 Whales in the AC, unfortunately 3 of the AC whales were in one division and the Doubledays were at the short end of losing in the wildcard.
The Owlz surprised by beating 3 great whale teams to make it to the World Series. Unfortunately since I actually checked the team it all is down hill from here.

Free to Play Success!!!
After 14 seasons in the Perfect Leagues, nearly being relegated just two seasons ago,and in their first postseason appearance, magic happened. The Free to Play Telderoth Wizards have triumphed, and did so with a sweep! Mussina pitched a 3 hit complete game to seal the deal.
That's right folks, with a little bit of skill and a lot of luck, you too can win it all

P412: Huntley's Unearned Home-Field Advantage Not Much of an Advantage
The Texas Texans earned home-field advantage against the Huntley Red Raiders in the Perfect League Series but, due to unforeseen circumstances, had to travel to Huntley for the first 2 games anyway.
It's safe to say the Texans did not appreciate this and took out their frustrations on the Red Raiders...

Frogs dispatched the Philadelphia Bulldogs 3-0 in the DS, then romped against the Baby Senators 4-1 in the Sub-League Series (despite ceding the home field).
Now, the Frogs are the ones with the ill-gotten home field in a matchup against the 136-win Bridgeville Bucs. And, with a 3-2 series heading back to The Lily Pad, it could make a pretty big difference. If it actually makes a difference. Will the Frogs prevail? If so, they will have to best 100 Pedro and 100 Big Train in games 6/7.

So... We were on the verge of winning our 8th perfect championship, with a 3-0 lead in the series and tied going to the top of the 9th, 1-1. Unfortunately, the bullpen imploded and gave up 10 runs in the 9th inning. Well, I sure hope they got it out of their system so we can wrap things up here soon. I do like our chances in the next game with Schilling going up vs Ryan.

Hmmm. Interesting. I had a post already written congratulating Bridgeville on a great season because there was the "long sim" with my Frogs down 3-2.
But, a new hope? The sim came in and we've tied the series at 3. Christy Mathewson and Co. bested Pedro Martinez and Co. in a 5-4 nailbiter. A PEAK Chipper Jones 6th inning grand slam was the game for the Frogs. Nervously awaiting game 7...My 100 Walsh...his 100 Walter.

P412: Number Six for the Texans
Congratulations to the Texas Texans, who, despite the home-field advantage bug, swept away the Huntley Red Raiders (and, thanks to the bug, got to clinch at home!) to claim their sixth Perfect League championship. Placed in a challenging AC East division with 2 other multiple Perfect League championship-winning teams, Texas nevertheless dominated the AC to the tune of a 125-37 record and then completed its championship run in dominant fashion.
Compared with the previous few seasons, Huntley's postseason award tally was slight, as SS Luke Appling's 13th Platinum Stick Award was the only hardware earned by a Red Raider. Congratulations to all 2052 champions, and good luck in 2053!

The Raccoons somehow came out on top this year. We won no major awards (2 great gloves) and made the fewest PP we had in many seasons (only 15k when we've been averaging 25+k), but the championship was especially nice due to surviving The Division of Death.
All 5 teams in our division were playoff level teams. All 5 had won at least 120 games in perfect at least once. All 5 had won a perfect title and combined for 29 perfect titles. 3 of us finished the season tied (with only 100 wins - the other 2 won 90 and 87), with the tiebreaker going to the Raccoons. Denver hadn't won so few games in 30 perfect seasons and we only won this few in our two whale league seasons. It was brutal, but fun (especially when you're the lucky one that finishes on top!).
