Tran City-Tracyton gap two games, with five to play, in GSA. Game gives favorable odds to the Lumberjacks over the Artists. After they finish playing each other, Tran City plays Willson, which is below Slaabojevo in the standings, while Tracyton gets Slaabojevo to finish the regular season, barring any potential ties.

Sarahnapool wins again, with one game left to play against Amjasi. Both teams currently tied going down to the wire. Game favors the Archeologists slightly. Sarahanapool gets the Explorers next, while Amjasi gets the Zoologists next, to close out the regular season, barring any potential ties.

More progress will be reported in next post, I'm sure, as possible and all. CD out.

All positions from Kentucky on down are now locked in for the NABA. Augusta still alive, and the league's winner will end up being decided through a tie-breaker game, evidently, for Augusta won the last two scheduled games against Washington, to split the four-game series.

Third place through eighth place in the league have been locked in as follows:

Kentucky
Brooklyn
Boston
Birmingham
Charleston
Nashville

There will be no playoffs, in any case, this time around, as well. Washington can only fall behind Augusta if there is a tiebreaker game that they lose. I believe Washington can clinch the league in game 111, but we'll have to see if they do. One win for Washington will do it for them.

Sarahnapool and Tracyton both win game 106. That closes the gap between the Lumberjacks and the Artists to one game, with the Lumberjacks still ahead. Archeologists now lead the NUA by a game over the Farmers. But Amjasi is not done yet, of course. How will the last few games of the season go here? Only time will tell who will end up on the top of both the GSA and NUA, you know.

Reno and Tri-City are on the brink of elimination from the regular-season races in the SCL, with their elimination numbers both being one now. Aberdeen leads Potomac by two, with five to play, and Staten Island leads South Bend by the same margin and the same number of games to play here. Likely playoff matchup in the SCL is Aberdeen versus Staten Island.

Would appreciate suggestions for schools to include in an American college association starting with the 1882 season. And leagues/conferences to include in such an association, as well.

I will definitely include any school at some point I have sets for in this association, especially Missouri, for example. I will have to see what I have available at present first, though, of course.

I believe I have at least some items for the following schools, listed in no particular order

Missouri Tigers
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs
North Carolina Tarheels

Other than the above, I'm not totally sure at the moment. I am NOT making requests for team-related sets, but just asking for suggestions for schools that I might begin to include in leagues that will be part of the U.S.-based component for the North American Collegiate Sports Association, aka the NACSA.

I'd appreciate any and all reasonably-made suggestions you all might have here for possible use starting in 1882 and going forwards. Of course, I will want to start small, then increase the number of affiliated teams and leagues in that association as more time passes.

I definitely have sets for the following teams, at least, but they may not be enough for what I have planned. I plan to do a lot of digging in the forums and other places for items related to various American schools.

Then when I have enough items sets gathered, I'll try to put those schools into various conferences and all, as best as I can. I would think about 30 schools, more or less, at most, should be enough for starters. What do you think?

Tran City lead over Tracyton back up to two games, with three to play. Amjasi pulls back into tie with Sarahnapool, also with three to play.

Tran City listed as having about a ninety percent chance now of taking the GSA, and Sarahnapool listed as having a 62.5 percent chance now of taking the NUA. Will keep you posted, of course.

Meanwhile, back in the SCL, the ValleyCats of Tri-City are out of contention in the George League with four games to play, due to Aberdeen's latest victory over the Baysox. Reno is still alive, barely, but the next Staten Island win and/or Reno loss will eliminate them from contention for the Abraham League title.

As for things with the North-South Border Battle in the EDA championship series, the best-of-seven series is now tied between Eugene and Jupiter at two games apiece. Still too many errors for both teams for my tastes, but then again, it's still only 1881, after all, year-wise.

Actually, the result of the Augusta-Washington tiebreaker game will be revealed in the next post, not this one. Please stay tuned. CD out.

Washington wins the required tiebreaker game 4-1, and wins their league for the third straight year. But Augusta and Kentucky, at least, really gave Washington strong challenges this year, in any case. Can Washington make it four straight years to win their league? You'll just have to wait and find out, of course, folks.

Tran City clinches GSA, with two games left, seeing as the results of August 1's games leave Tracyton three games back in the GSA standings. Archeologists back in first, a game up on the Farmers in the NUA, with two to play. If it ends up in Sarahnapool's favor, after the next two games, I think the SBC's league championship series should be rather interesting to follow and see who wins. More information later. CD out.

SCL championship series participants will be the Aberdeen IronBirds and the Staten Island Yankees. Final 1881 SCL standings to be posted after end of regular season.

SBC wrapping up regular season on August 3rd, barring a tie after 110 games between Sarahnapool and Amjasi. Sarahnapool up by a game with one to play, and neither team will play each other again this season unless a tiebreaker game is required. Tran City has already clinched their spot in the league championship series, and are waiting to see who they will face in it.

Major League Baseball will not complete their regular season until mid-October, it seems, though. But most of the teams are at or above .500 at present for their seasons.

Shmala beats Amjasi, which means that the NUA champion for 1881 will be the Sarahnapool Archeologists, even though Olsonton knocked off Sarahnapool in the last scheduled regular-season game for them both this season. The margin of difference between the Farmers and the Archeologists is and will always be one game for the 1881 regular season. I look forwards to seeing how the Slaabovian Republic Showdown plays out between Tran City and Sarahnapool, for sure.

This will be the second time that both teams will play each other in the final series for the league title. Sarahnapool beat Tran City the last time they both played for the league title in the same year, in 1879, with the Archeologists winning in seven games. Both teams will have identical records this time around, however, so I'll have to take a look at both teams before I can make my predictions on the winner of the upcoming SRS, it seems to me.

As far as the North-South Border Battle between Eugene's Emeralds and Jupiter's Hammerheads, it's going to go to a seventh game, because Eugene just took game six of their series against the Hammerheads. I predicted Eugene in six, but Jupiter has been a bit of a surprise this series. There have only been two games this series with more than a two-run difference between the two teams, games four and six, as you will see later.

Overall EDA title for 1881 season goes to the Emeralds, when they win game seven 10-2 against Jupiter. Too many errors likely doomed the Hammerheads in the series, especially in game seven when they had seven of them, it seems. Both teams will move up to the SCL for next season.

The SCL has now finished its regular season, and Aberdeen and Staten Island will be playing for the overall league title. I have decided that, after the SCL playoffs are concluded, the teams that will be relegated to the EDA for the 1882 season will be the Biloxi Shuckers and the Grand Junction Rockies. Predictions for the upcoming league championship series likely to be in next post, I think.

Biloxi may see a nickname change if I find a better name for them to use, and a better set somewhere on the boards to grab, if I don't already have one that may work better for them. As for Grand Junction, in regards to potential team nickname adjustment, I will have to see what may be out there for team sets, and make my related decisions accordingly, of course. I will NOT be requesting new sets for either of the teams that will be relegated to the EDA for next season, for sure.

As for the upcoming Slaabovian Republic Showdown, I'd give the slight edge to the Archeologists, but the Lumberjacks are no slouches, so to speak. Both teams are about equally good, but I have to favor the Archeologists in this series. Better hitting and better pitching for Sarahnapool. Ought to be a good series. My prediction is Sarahnapool will win in six, but if it goes seven, Tran City may have a chance to pull off a title win here. After all, the Lumberjacks are defending league champions.

I predict Aberdeen will sweep Staten Island quite easily. Aberdeen's primary lineup seems to have all its regulars with batting averages over .300, while Staten Island only has a few. Staten Island is a moderately good team, but they won't win if they can't keep Aberdeen off the board, for sure. I don't predict a very close series, but anything could happen in the President's Cup Tournament once the series starts, you know, folks.

As for the SRS, the Lumberjacks have gotten off to a good start in the series, taking the first two games at Sarahnapool. Can the Archeologists keep the Lumberjacks from winning the series at their own park, or will Tran City win the SRS at home? We'll all have to wait and see, for sure. CD out.

One thing I don't get is why teams who finish at or near the top of their league or subleagues, and are above .500, seem to periodically fire their managers and/or GMs, even if it's within three to five years of hiring them in the first place. New Orleans canned their manager and/or GM after only one season this time around, even though they finished several games over .500. Can anyone explain that, please?

Once the seasonal awards have been announced for Major League Baseball, I will open up a potential submission window for possible new nations, cities, players, and personnel to come from for the 1882 and/or following seasons. We are still about a month and a half away from the end of the 1881 MLB regular season, and after that, there will be a best-of-seven World Series scheduled, of course.

Currently, Detroit leads the AL over the Boston Red Caps by two and a half games. While over in the NL, Philadelphia leads the New York Mutuals by eight and a half games and both the Trojans and the White Stockings by nine and a half games.

Current placement of the teams in both the AL and NL is shown above in post 94 of this thread. The last expected games for the regular season are currently scheduled for October 17th, if I am not too mistaken here. I have a human manager in Providence, and we have twenty games left in our season. I do not expect the Grays to get to .500, but if we somehow manage to get to .400, then that will be nice, although probably unlikely at the moment, in my current view. We are currently trying to avoid ending up in the cellar of the NL, but we have several weak positions on the roster at present.

One of our pitchers threw a no-hitter on September 10th against the Centennials, almost three years to the day since Asa Brainard threw one for the Philadelphia Whites (now the Troy Trojans) in 1878 against the Milwaukee Grays (now the Cleveland Blues), if I remember correctly.
