How about creating new free agents without editing the current ones?

The reason for the divergence between PTG and Sandbox could be that Sandbox is much more flexible and when you add options to the game you have to consider the vast scope of possible implications in this mode. That means the an implementation uses too much ressources (time, man hours) and could never realized. On the other side PTG seems to be much narrower (focused on todays NHL - i assume) and then it is easier to add a new feature.

And as OOTP player i have seen the problems here, too. OOTP provides many options but not all options are usefull in every league setup. When you want to create your own ficitional league which differs in may way from modern baseball you have to test many variables.

An example is arbitration in the game. You can choose between different years and you can also choose when FA starts. As i am not a fan of FA but want a fair payment for Players i have tested a combination of FA = 10 years and arbitration = 1 year. As the arbitration is coded player friendly (as in real life) the salaries exploded and some teams lost almost the half of their players after the Hearings because the refused to pay inflated salaries (and the players signed for the half of their demand with other teams a couple of weeks later). Is the arbitration code flawed ? Not really, it is optimized for real life (only 2 - 3 years) and does not consider all possible combinations.

At the end i do not use FA, also no feeder leagues, storylines and many other options, moral because they do not deliver the results i want - even when they are correct for MLB Baseball.
