Player x has recently publicly adopted Budhism (fill in religion) and has spoken at length how his new-found religion has greatly improved his overall mindset.

Player X (23-26 year old minor league player lacking ML talent) has retired suggesting he will a) attend college to finish degree, b) attend college to play football, c) rejoin former High School/College as assistant coach, d) pursue other avenues.
(If option C, dump into available personnel) |

Player X, an avid Lakers (any local to his MLB) team, has been outspoken about the recent (fictional name) trade and thinks they need a change of leadership. Local (city) fans have rallied/criticized player X for his comments.
(Local popularity goes up or down. Whether fans agree with his comments) |

Player X will miss 2 weeks to recover from corrective eye-surgery. With life-long vision problems behind him, player X is ready to refocus on baseball....pun intended.

Fans 'hold no grudges' to player X (and World Series MVP) after revealing to late night show host he grew up idolizing (fill in divisional rival) as a kid.

You know those could have all been in one post?
And otherwise, I like the ideas about pursuing football. That's the only reason Kaepernick is in the Super Bowl and not pitching for the Cubs...

1) Player X went back to basics this winter and trained with his high school coach in hopes of refocusing on the fundamentals of his swing/delivery.
(Player intelligence goes up) 2) Player X has always been an outsider in the clubhouse and just recently fans found out why when his debut album was released from a private label. Deemed 'experimental music', music reviews blasted the album as the worst in years. Album Sales have mirrored reviews and have been virtually non-existent. (Popularity goes down) 3) Player X was arrested for DUI late last night and was scratched from today's lineup. The league will allow the judicial system to serve their portion of the sentence. Team officials have not yet determined if additional punishment will be necessary) (suspend or take no action, local popularity goes down) 4) Player X has polarized the teams fan base by releasing a series of online videos supporting specific political ideals. Apparently team officials are determining how to best handle the situation. (Promote ads and hurt fan loyalty but increase player loyalty, ask him to take them down and hurt player loyalty and help fan loyalty, or do nothing) 5) pitching coach berates opposing fans during warm ups. Team officials determining best action. (Suspend coach and increase fan interest, fire coach and increase fan loyalty, or do nothing and decrease fan loyalty...all rather slightly of course) Last edited by s0ni42; 01-28-2013 at 05:15 PM. |

All from real life:
Wilson Ramos was abducted in Venezuela, and rescued two days later. Kyle Denney was shot by a stray bullet while riding the team bus. Keith Ginter, Morgan Ensberg and a few other Astros farmhands were held at gunpoint in their team hotel during a robbery. One gunman later attempted to take Aaron Miles hostage, but, according to wikipedia, Miles "ended up wrestling the gunman to the ground. The police entered the room and shot the gunman while Miles held him to the floor.". Denny McLain was suspended for 3 months for setting up a bookmaking operation. Denny McLain was suspended for a week for pouring buckets of water on two reporters. Denny McLain was suspended for bringing a gun on a team flight. Jim Bouton published a behind-the-scenes book about baseball, which revealed a lot of details many other players didn't want revealed. Unofficialy persona non grata in baseball after that, he retired the following year. During Spring Training, a home rented by David Price, Evan Longoria and Reid Brignac was robbed; the thieves made off with $60k in cash and property, along with an AK-47. Mike Leake was arrested for shoplifting after he brought six t-shirts worth $60 back to a retail store to exchange them, and decided to carry out the exchange without any assistance from store personnel. Cesar Carrillo was arrested for trespassing after he was kicked out of a hotel and then later returned to the hotel casino. Justin Sellers was arrested for reckless driving on his motorcycle following a chase by police. According to police, they had had several high-speed chases with a reckless motorcyclist (believed to be Sellers) in the past, but the motorcyclist had evaded them each time. Matt Bush was arrested for assault and underage drinking soon after being drafted 1st overall, following an altercation with a bouncer at a bar. Matt Bush was later charged in a hit and run incident, and is serving 4 years in prison. Denny Neagle was arrested for soliciting a prostitute. Franklin Francisco was charged with assault after throwing a chair into the stands from the bullpen and injuring two fans. Kengshill Pujols, minor league pitcher, was arrested in possession of 130 bags of crack cocaine. Ugueth Urbina attacked five workers on his farm with a machete, and was found guilty of attempted murder; he served almost six years in prison. Angel Villalona was arrested for murder following a shooting in a bar. The charges were eventually dropped, apparently after the victim's family received a large monetary settlement. |

I like how most of the storylines in OOTP 13 don't really affect the game in any way (that I see at least). Just some funny ones could be something like what happened to the Saints (I think), having their team bus egged by airport personnel. Another thing that seems to happen sometimes is MLB players releasing music or having some sort of talent with that, and I just found that funny.
I generally like the idea of having more fun ones, just to keep the players having character. Sometimes I just see the players as numbers, and it's more fun when they become actual people.

Player makes the all-star game while dating a beauty queen. They break up and he has the worst season of his career. Sorry Ricky Romero.

I read this one a while ago and thought it would be perfect for the storylines.

Another one I read about, and not sure this is possible, was about a high school kid who had surgery on his right arm and learned to pitch and hit lefty at only a negligible decrease in velocity and I think an uptick in hitting surprisingly. It may have been the opposite, I will look for the story.
