My OOTP19 Random Debut League
Started a new league last night. Decided to use 2012 as my base year. This should be interesting. I usually start in 1947 and play forward or use a year in the 70's or 80's as a base. Going to be interesting to see what happens using 2012. Especially, in regards to pitching. I've never been the biggest fan of modern day bullpens, so I'm probably going to gritting my teeth at times.
I did lower the number of teams from 30 to 24. 162 game schedule, no interleague AL East Baltimore Boston Cleveland Detroit New York Toronto AL West Chicago Kansas City Minnesota Oakland Seattle Texas NL East Atlanta Cincinnati Montreal New York Philadelphia Pittsburgh NL West Chicago Houston Los Angeles Milwaukee San Francisco St. Louis I'm using the reserve clause for this league. Really want to be able to identify teams with players, so I'm hoping the lack of free agency helps in that regard. Well here we go |

Okay, I had to make a change. 2012 defaults to very low pitcher stamina with use of closers set to extreme and use of relievers set to very often. I simply can't stomach this and no amount of teeth grinding was ever going to allow me to do so. Got tired of seeing teams blow through 7 bullpen pitchers in the course of 3 innings time and time again for no reason. Plus, it sucks when a game goes extra innings and both teams are left with only one pitcher to pitch the remainder of the game. Watching a team lose because their only available pitcher is exhausted, is annoying. So, I've changed to low pitcher stamina with use of relievers set to often and use of closers set to very often. I also dropped the bullpens down to 6 pitchers.

Down to the final weekend. 3 divisions have been decided so far. Toronto edged out Cleveland to take the AL East. Cleveland led for the majority of the season, but both Toronto and New York started to come on strong following the All-Star game. By late August it was a 3 team race. Montreal took the NL East title. San Francisco is the NL West champion.
The only division that is still undecided is the AL West. Oakland and Texas have been fighting for the crown all season long. This race is like a yo-yo, with neither team able to pull away from the other. Texas has scored an unbelievable 900+ runs so far. I'm at work, but I think they may have 4 players in their lineup with over 100 runs scored. I know they have 3. Oakland has 800+ runs scored and feature 3 players with 40+ home runs. Eddie Mathews, Erubiel Durazo and Tim Teufel...…….Yup, you heard right, TIM TEUFEL! Dude has 3 games remaining to reach the 50 home run mark. WOW! Home runs have ruled the roost for this inaugural season, We may finish with 2 or 3 players in the 50's, There are at least 8 more in the 40's and so on. I'm thinking I may try 2014 for next year base year Last edited by David Watts; 12-17-2018 at 07:27 PM. |

I was really hoping for a Toronto/Montreal World Series, but Montreal lost to San Francisco in the NLCS. Maybe this year though, as both are right in the thick of things once again. |
