keeping custom files in play
I use custom/modified injuries.txt and historical_transactions.odb files. Periodically - I'm guessing with each new build? - these files are overwritten by the delivered OOTP18 versions of these files. Sometimes I catch this, sometimes I don't. Not sure if it's relevant, but I have OOTP thru Steam.
Best I can tell, this is the only process I know of: 1. Launch OOTP18 2. Check the ...Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 18\database and ...Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 18\stats folders to see if my custom files are still in effect, and if not... 3. Quit OOTP18 4. Go through the various steps to copy, rename, etc., the files in question 5. Launch OOTP18 6. Check again to make sure the custom files are in play Not only is the above a bit of a pain, but it's entirely dependent upon remembering step #2, rather than just diving in and playing OOTP. Anyone have any better ideas or workarounds? |

Just point at another (ie custom) folder to load all the database files. It should do the trick.
See screen capture. |

1. That would work for my injuries.txt file that resides in the database folder. 2. OOTP updates to the other files in the database folder would not apply to my game unless I were to manually move the game files from the database folder to my custom folder; not a problem. 3. It would not work for my historical_transactions.odb file because that resides in the stats folder. All correct? |

FYI, for at least the injuries.txt, you can also create a copy inside a saved game folder (ie next to your world.dat) that will be loaded first. If that's the only customized file you need, that may be the easiest solution (although if you have multiple games running, you'd need multiple copies, and would have to remember to add it for any new games that you create as well).
