Specific question restricting player movement/free agency

So I've done this before, did it last year and it worked fine. But I am having trouble doing it this year.

I do a fictional league with 4 teams in the "reserve" clause era. Managers obviously can go wherever they want, but players are being released and signed by other teams after 1 year...

I want it so that players stay with teams their whole career (at least for the early part of the game)

I think one of the reasons why they're being released is I set the draft pool too high early, which I fixed. I also had a reserve roster limit which probably made it so the AI had to release certain players. Here's how my other settings look:

Remaining salary owed if player cut: none
multi-year contracts given: none
guranteed contracts: none
min days of service before 1 year: 0
contract years max: 10 years (didn't touch that)
contract extensions: allowed (so that they would have to stay 1 team)
team salary cap: 0

what am I doing wrong? How do I restrict player movement so that teams aren't releasing players/signing players. The only "transactions" I want are players being retired or maybe (if I have to) a few players being dropped cause they're REALLY bad or too old.

Thanks in advance!

This never got answered, but I had the same question, particularly how to enable contract extensions in reserve clause rule indy leagues. So instead of starting a new thread, figured id give the bump.
