Owners' nationalities in historical leagues

I started a real player/team game with the 1946 season, the year before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier. However, I was looking at the team owners and I've got owners from Japan, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, etc. Obviously not realistic given the historical context.

Where did I go wrong in setting up the league that would cause this to happen? I think I will manually change the owners' nationalities for now, but I'm hoping there's a change I can make in the setup that in the future will result in a higher percentage of American owners as was the case back then.

I should add that this applies to the fictional pitching coaches, hitting coaches, etc.

I believe, ,when setting up the league, these nationalities are controlled by the "Default Player Origin" setting. I can't think of exactly where that is off the top of my head, but it's in the same location as International Free agents, Rookie draft pool nationality, etc...

Hope this helps.

I always thought owner nationalities were random for the most part. Almost the first thing I do when I set up any league is to go through the owners and change their nationalities. Takes about a minute.

I just ran a test, importing the 1954 season. I changed the "Default Player Origin" to 100% Nepal. All players import with the correct nationalities. All owners and personnel (except for imported managers) are from Nepal.

Good idea on the test, it sounds like that's the trick. I'm guessing that when I created the league, it was set to modern major league defaults. It never occurred to me that the default player origin nationalities would apply to owners and coaching staffs as well. Thanks.

FYI in case anybody looks to avoid this issue in the future, the setting is at:

Game Settings\League Settings\Players\Default Player Origin (big red edit button)
