World Hockey Manager (or WoHoMan) was a game about 10 years ago. I don't know if that has any effect on current naming.

I found an old review for it here:

Ooof! Good catch. That's too bad, as that was the name I voted for. Perhaps we need to open up the polling to some more options? WHM is great if it's viable, but I'd hate for the project to land in early hot water over a trademark violation.

Maybe they'll find a way so that we can change the Game Name once the game is installed

I'm not going to vote because they're all crap personally. I'll still buy the game but I don't want to be associated with the naming.

I don't really like any of those names. It needs to be something catchy that might peak interest. Those come across as sounding boring.

In the end, it doesn't matter to me ; i'm still buying it. But North Americans, especially Canadians care about the National Hockey League. I'd say the best name has to apply the nhl (without using it lol) but at the same time not alienating others. Though call

"National Hockey [Manager] 2012" or "Executive Hockey 2012" would be mine but even that sounds boring.

Anyway, as WHM seems to be out, IHM is last in the voting (though will probably pick up many of the WHM votes) and the other two plain suck (see post 14), howabout we go back to The Funk's Hockey Manager? OR plain old Hockey Manager? Or the more professional-sounding Hockey Manager Pro? Or the funkier and more professional-sounding The Funk's Hockey Manager Pro?

I kind of feel that way about Behind the Bench. Yeah, the coaches are behind the bench, but managers are in the manager's box. Only thing is "From the Manager's Box Hockey Manager" (or From the Rafters) just doesn't have a good ring to it like BtB Hockey Manager does.

Regardless, I really liked the Light the Lamp (or LTL) suggestion someone else made. I was surprised it didn't make the poll.

I agree with this who find World Hockey Manager terribly boring. OTOH, WoHoMan is very cool IMO.

EDIT: I'd like to know what the 2 main programmers would call it if they just went with their own first choices. My bet is you put that much work into something you've probably got some pretty good names in mind already.
