Can't believe one of mine got mentioned.
If the game is called Top Shelf there should be a special edition of the game bundled with a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue and drink mixing guide. Top Shelf Hockey Manager, brought to you by your friends at Diageo |

No consideration to Out of the Rink Hockey?
I'm late to the party, but was there a way to submit names? If so, these were the top 4?

Personally I don't think it needs to be OOTP but there were better names. World Hockey Manager is terrible, Behind the Bench is better and personally I like In the Crease Hockey Manager

World Hockey Manager may appeal to you fellas over that side of the pond but in North America it isn't a cool name for a hockey sim.

Ah, I found the thread. 99 names, 95% of which were either used by other video/tabletop games or almost embarrassingly awful (not that I could have come up with better). Still it seems to me these 4 were chosen so it would be assured World Hockey Manager would be the winner.

For simplicity take a page from your former partners and call it Hockey Manager.

I'm shocked that the developers haven't chosen OOTP Hockey to match their flagship product.
But, of the names available, Behind the Bench Hockey has the best ring to it. |

World Hockey Manager is by far the worst option available... Guess I'll just have to close my eyes while the game loads.

Eastside hockey manager was never exactly a great name.
I think names tend to grow on people over time and become brand names after a period of time. I also don't put much stock in a name breaking a game unless it is truly terrible. World Hockey Manager may be pretty plain but it perfectly sums up the game and WHM makes for a nice acronym. Even if I am a bit biased towards International Hockey Manager and IHM. You also have to keep in mind that this game is going to HAVE to appeal to a market outside of North America in order to survive. Many of those who play it are not going to be native English speakers. I think World Hockey Manager or International Hockey Manager has that going for it as well. It is pretty easily understood from the title alone what the game is even if you do not have a great grasp of the English language. |
