My friends are hooked on the game now

2 of my friends played OOTP for the first time today. They are hooked already. Anyway they are going to purchase the game but 1 of them wants to know if anything is different on the steam version. I don't have any idea because I always get it directly from here. Is anything different with steam? Can steam players play in leagues that are not steam?

Thank you for any information.

I think they are interchangeable......I have the steam version myself.

I have both, and other than the way to purchase points, I haven't seen a difference (though Steam updates automatically, download/store version has to be updated manually).

I don't know the difference but the day I'm forced to use steam is the last day I'll ever spend playing OOTP again.

I have a couple of hundred games on Steam and love it - but to each his own.

There is no difference, other than the way you purchase Perfect Points, different shops, same prices, same result

I never noticed any talk about forcing you to use Steam or any version for that matter. Steam has its benefits as well as its detraction by some. Personally I like it because everything is always updated when I sign in. Giving Steam financial information to make purchases is no more dangerous than any other web site.
