I've got Old Hoss as the only starter for Providence, but Harry Arundel has started 15 games to Radbourn's 47 starts. Also Ed Conley has started 1 game.

August 2nd, 2018 - Finishing with a 23 and 41 record, and 23 1/2 games back in the American Association, the Washington Nationals have played their final game. However, it was immediately announced that they will be replaced by a new team: the Richmond Virginians. Washington lost it's final game vs. the New York Metropolitans 8-2. Richmond will take on the Philadelphia Athletics on August 5th.

Im not sure why, but Sweeney worked in relief for Providence and went 0-3 with a 6.28 ERA. Now he's starting for the Maroons and is 3-0 with a 2.8 something ERA.
Sidenote...im having on and off laptop issues which is really slowing things down. I may need a new laptop at some point.

Edit: Aha! A hotfix is downloading! That might have been part of the problem.

August 7th, 1884 - Despite being caught in the middle of a playoff run, the Philadelphia Keystones have been unable to survive financially. Their final game ended in a 6-1 win over the Boston Reds. Their season ends at 40-27 (.597).

The Keystones will be replaced by the Wilmington Quicksteps.

September 1st, 1884 - Chicago and Cleveland currently hold the 2 playoff spots in the NL, but Buffalo is only 1 and 1/2 games behind Cleveland for the final spot. Pitcher Billy Serad has 30 wins for Buffalo. Cap Anson has a record 25 home runs for Chicago, and has pulled ahead of Harry Stovey in the AA, who now only has 20 homeruns.
The Philadelphia Athletics has solid hold on first place in the AA, where they have an 8 1/2 game lead over Toledo. Bobby Mathews has 39 wins and a 1.02 ERA.
In the UA, the St. Louis Maroons hold a 7 game lead over the Pittsburgh Stogies.

October 1st, 1884 - The Cleveland Blues have clinched a playoff berth, and have a magic number of 2 to win the National League pennant. The Chicago White Stockings are 3 1/2 games back, and have a 3 game lead over Buffalo for the final playoff spot in the NL. The Philadelphia Athletics have a 3 1/2 game lead over Toledo, with all other teams in the American Association being eliminated from the playoffs. Toledo has been red hot, and the Athletics are going to have to earn the pennant with a magic number of 7.
In the American Assocation, the St Louis Maroon have fallen being the disbanded Philadelphia Keystones by winning percentage. If the Maroons can't beat the Keystones winning percentage, they won't make the playoffs. If this scenario happens, what I'll probably do is give the Keystones some bad scrub players to ensure they do not advance to the World Series. I'm hoping though that I don't have to worry about this.

You could have a custom playoff and pick the 2nd place team if the Keystones finish with the best winning pctg.
Think of it this way. aThe team no longer exists.
They didn't finish the season.
When the real leagues expelled a team or a team folded i doubt they would allow that team to play for the championship.
Or you could resign all its players for the playoffs unless they are on another
playoff team.
However i still have faith in the Maroons.

October 1st, 1884 - Fleet Walker, the first African American play in MLB history, has suffered a rib injury and is out for the rest of the season. Walker finished with a .254 average and 54 RBI's. Toledo, in the midst of a pennant run, will now go with backup catcher Deacon McGuire.

I like the custom playoffs idea...I'll see if I can do that if necessary...I didn't know that was possible. Thanks for the suggestion!

October 1st, 1884 - The St. Paul Saints have joined the Union Association as the latest team to keep the league at 8 teams. They currently have a 1-2 record, and, like the Milwaukee Brewers, don't really have a shot a making the playoffs with such little time left in the season.

October 6th, 1884 - Cleveland and Chicago will meet in the NL Championship, it's just a matter of who will have home field advantage. Cleveland currently holds a 3 game lead over Chicago, so it seems likely they will win the pennant.

In the American Association, Philadelphia has a 3 1/2 game lead over Toledo, with a magic number of 5.

In the Union Association, the St. Louis Maroons have essentially clinched the division and won the pennant. It has been determined that the Philadelphia Keystones will not be a factor.

October 21, 1884 - The 1884 season has come to a close, and it's time for the playoffs! Bobby Mathews had an incredible season, winning his 2nd triple crown. The Union Association added a bit of chaos to the leagues, but certainly made things interesting. Cap Anson set a new record for homeruns with 30, and several players hit over 100 RBI's.
For the 4 teams that remain, there's no rest for the weary as the playoffs start in 2 days!

October 23rd, 1884 - Bobby Mathews gave up no earned runs as the Athletics defeated St. Louis 7-4 in game 1 of the Association Championship Series. Cub Stricker hit a timely homerun in the 6th inning to give Philly a 5-4 lead.
In the bottom of the 8th, Maroons SS Milt Whitehead made a costly throwing error with 2 outs that allowed a run to score, and continued the inning for another run to score. The series continues tomorrow in Philly.

October 24th, 1884 - Larry Corcoran confounded the Blues hitters all day long, not allowing a hit until the 6th inning, and the White Stockings cruised to a 6-1 victory in Cleveland. The White Stockings played aggressive on the base paths with 9 stolen bases. George Gore led the way with 3 stolen bases, followed by the speedy Billy Sunday and Abner Dalrymple, who both had 2.
"I've gotta do a better job holding the runners," said Blues pitcher John Harkins, "This team is going to get their hits, but we have to keep them at their stations once they get on base. I take personal responsibility for that."

October 24th, 1884 - Athletics starting pitcher Billy Henry Taylor has been living in the shadow of Bobby Mathews all season long, and for good reason. Taylor could not keep the Maroons in check, and their bats punished him all game long after having to deal with Mathews in game 1. When the bats weren't doing the damage, his own teammates stepped in, making 9 errors. (The Maroons also had 9 errors.)

Maroons second baseman Fred Dunlap went 3 for 5 at the plate, scoring 3 runs with 2 RBI's. 15 to 7 was the final score, and now the series moves to St. Louis for a deciding game 3.
