Incredible end to an amazing season!
Just thought I'd share because I've never seen anything quite like this.
In the latest season of my 70-game, first-past-the-post, 8-team league, 4 teams finished with an identical number of wins and a fifth 1 game back. Since I usually don't reschedule rained out / abandoned games during the season (thank you for that schedule editor! ), these teams hadn't played the same number of games and this situation had to be resolved first. This included a couple of make up games involving direct rivals. * A handful of games and 1 calendar week later, 3 teams finished with an identical 40 - 30 record. In case of a tie, I usually decide the champion based on their head-to-head record, but this time I decided to go for tie-breaking games. * I then scheduled a straightforward three-way playoff. Team A v Team B Team B v Team C Team A v Team C Of course, all three teams managed to win 1 game and force another tie. It felt like the never-ending season at this point. I went for an another round of games and this time 1 team managed to win 2 in a row (on the road), and a champion was crowned nearly 3-weeks (in game time) and 10 games (including a few extra-innings ones) after the officially scheduled end to the season. It was amazing enough in my game; it would have been quite extraordinary to follow that in real life. Obvious conclusion: What a great game OOTP is. Of course, my team was out of contention from the start! * I did everything manually because the game had a tough time handling it properly. Looking at the standings after each game was proof enough. I also edited the end of the season in 'League Events' just to be sure. |

Why was one team on the road for both games of the round-robin tiebreaker?

After the first round of tie-breaker, I merely reversed the draw. Since OOTP was willing to decide the pennant after a single tie-breaker although 3 teams were involved, I decided to take matters in my own hands. |
