Gehrig Retires right after draft

I'm using historical minors with draft. In 1922, Lou Gehrig as expected was the first round pick by the Boston Braves. However, in early January he become a minor league free agent and retired. I do not have the advanced signing option turned on so in theory he should just sign a contract.

Bug or just a side effect of the historical minors with no real minor league teams in 1923? It seems like all of the other top draftees remained on the team that drafted them.

Do you have storylines turned on? If you do and you don't want any shenanigans like this, turn them off.

Do you have roster limits in place? Any injury? retire to play another sport?

Sometimes similar happened in my recent sim.
Lefty o doul, while still rated a rp, retired at age 24 before he became a hitter.
Just by luck I caught it in the retired players list and un retired him.

These (O'Doul and Gehrig) are old bugs that were fixed but have now returned to plague historical leagues again. The bugs were reactivated in the last few updates. I do not know what was changed to them go away for a time. The bug affects more than just these two players.

I see you have WWII retirements logged as a bug, but I don't see anything you've logged that would explain Gehrig or O'Doul. I could just be missing it though.

Is Gehrig/O'Doul likely the same bug as the WWII retirements do you think?

It would be a bug marked as fixed but is not fixed no more. I'll reactivate it. I don't remember who reported it originally but I do remember it clearly.

Bug Reactivated just a minute or two ago..
