Sim/Lineup Change

How do I get my lineup and rotation to quit changing when I sim ahead a week or two. I set a certain guy for closer or position and when I look it is reset back to the original setting.

What am I doing wrong?

When you sim games the AI is in control and will vary the lineup and relief pitcher use a lot. If you have depth charts set and don't check carefully it's possible that you'll have 2 or 3 guys starting every 2, 3, 4 games at various positions. When that happens the batting order changes to what the AI likes. It doesn't usually muck with the rotation unless a SP gets injured. However if you use start highest rested you may find your top two starters get overused. I use strict order.

I think all this has to be allowed in order to prevent the game from crashing.

You can exert more control over the AI in two ways.
  • Use 7-day lineups with no starting subs allowed, that overrides the depth chart. Set to force start pitchers. Note that can be dangerous if a pitcher gets a DtD injury.
  • Go into set game strategy and "force start" at position. Be aware that the force start control cascades back to the AI if one of your batters gets injured.

Even with these settings the AI will use an alternative batting lineup (order) if the opponents SP changes from R to L or back. Relief pitcher use outside of the designated closer is usually all AI all the time. Using 7-day lineups will lock in your SP almost 100%.

That's a long way of saying that a 7-day sim is about all you can control to a high degree.

That's how I run my league.

ok I will give that a try. I have a five star closer that I got and they keep moving him into the MR position and he keeps getting angry.

Thanks for the help!
