Walkers news: April 11 -- Kansas City 1, St. Louis 0

Record: 2-3, 4th (Tied/w. Springfield and Quad City, 1 GB Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Kansas City
Kansas City's Dominic Pipkin shutout St. Louis over the first 5.2 innings, and piled up 11 strike outs to highlight the Pit Masters 1-0 win at Kansas City Municipal Stadium (1969).
Pipkin (1-0) allowed just three hits during his time on the mound and walked only one.
Archie Bradley finished the sixth for the Masters.
After that, it was Kyle Nelson (1.0 IP), David Berg (0.0), Trey Dillard (0.2), Frank Lopez (0.1) and Wade Davis (1.0).
Davis recorded the final three outs to earn his second save in as many days.
K.C. pitchers whiffed a total of 14 St. Louis batters.
The Walkers got an equally strong start from Jimmy Lambert, who allowed five hits over six scoreless innings.

Tim Hill ended up taking the loss by giving up the game's lone run in the seventh.
Dru Baker scored the run after reaching on a one-out single.
He crossed the plate when Yasmani Grandal followed with a double.

Walkers news: April 12 -- St. Louis 8, Kansas City 2

Record: 3-3, 2nd (Tied/w. Des Moines, Springfield, Kansas City), 1 GB Cedar Rapids
St. Louis starting pitcher Alex Faedo worked seven scoreless innings and the River Walkers turned a 2-0 game into a blowout with five runs in the top of the seventh inning as they won 8-2 over Kansas City at Kansas City Municipal Stadium (1969).
The win allowed St. Louis to salvage the finale of the three-game series after dropping the first two.
Faedo (1-0) allowed six hits in his seven innings. He struck out nine and walked one.
The Walkers jumped on top in the first inning, Bo Bichette led off with a double off Pit Masters starting pitcher Juan Sandoval.
A wild pitch moved Bichette to third and he scored on a two-out single by Andrew Benintendi.
A lead-off homer from Jared Thomas made it 2-0.
St. Louis busted it open with its five-run seventh.
The first four Walkers hitters reached base, as Vidal Brujan led off with a double off Masters reliever Johnny Kuhn Jr..

What followed was an intentional walk, and a hit by pitch.
A wild pitch scored Brujan.
A walk to Edmond Americaan loaded the bases again.
Carlos Vidal drove in a pair with a two-out single off Frank Lopez.

Rhys Hoskins drove in the other two with a double.
Down 8-0, Kansas City scored twice in the ninth but it was never again a game.
Derek Gordon pitched a scoreless eighth for the Walkers but got knocked around in the ninth.
Tim Hill came on to get the final out.

Walkers news: Thumb injury will sideline Vidal, D. Johnson called up from AAA

The St. Louis River Walkers have placed right-fielder Carlos Vidal on the 10-day injured list after he hurt his thumb when being hit by a pitch in an 8-2 win over Kansas City.
Vidal, 30, was batting .313 on the young 2026 season with three RBIs.
Coming up from Memphis will be outfielder Dahiandy Johnson.
The 26-year-old Johnson is batting .300 this season in just three games with an RBI.
This will be his third chance to play in the majors.
Altogether, he has played in 67 games for the Walkers batting .279 with 10 homers and 24 RBIs.

An RBI infield single from Andrew Benintnedi capped a four-run bottom of the ninth inning for St. Louis, as it rallied for a 4- 3 win over Cedar Rapids in its opener at Busch Stadium (1997).
Trailling 3-0, Bo Bichette got things going with a lead-off single off Golden Grapplers reliever Jose Leclerc.
Pinch-hitter Vidal Brujan followed with a double, putting runners at second and third.
Bichette scored when Fernando Tatis Jr. lifted a fly ball deep enough into the outfield.
Jared Thomas drew a walk, putting runners at the corners.
Brujan scored when Rhys Hoskins doubled, making it 3-2.
Pinch-hitter Dahiandy Johnson was walked to load the bases.
Leclerc followed with another walk, this one to Edward Olivares, scoring Thomas to tie it.
Todd Peterson was brought in to face Benintendi, whose ground ball to the first-base side could not be fielded as Hoskins crossed the plate.
River Walkers starting pitcher Argenis Batista worked six innings, allowing three runs on five hits.
The runs came on a first-inning solo homer from Je-Von Ward and a two-run homer in the sixth from Dominic Smith.
Danny Grigg struck out the side in the seventh.
Nick Lodolo, John Curtiss and Williams Jerez would all retire two batters apiece.
Jerez (1-0) came away with the win.

Admonis Mednia worked eight scoreless innings and the St. Louis bats pounded Cedar Rapids for 12 runs on 16 hits in a 12-0 win at Busch Stadium (1997).
Medina (1-0) allowed just two hits while striking ot eight and walking none.
Derek Gordon took care of the ninth in this lopsided game.
Rhys Hoskins put the River Walkers up in the second inning with an RBI triple off Golden Grapplers starter Takahiro Norimoto.
Hoskins later scored on a wild pitch.
It was 4-0 after three, Andrew Benintendi with his first homer of the season, a two-run shot.
St. Louis broke it open with a four-run bottom of the seventh.
Fernando Tatis Jr. open the inning with his first homer of the season, hit off reliever Javier Medina.

Two of the runs scored on a fielding error by Grapplers center fielder Jose Leyva.
The Walkers made it ugly with another four-run inning in the eighth.
Hoskins did the bulk of the damage with a three-run homer off Zach Schellenger.

Walkers news: April 15 -- Cedar Rapids 8, St. Louis 6, 7 innings

Record: 5-4, 1st (Tied/w. Cedar Rapids and Des Moines), 1 GA Quad City, Springfield, Kansas City
Down 6-1, Cedar Rapids tied it with five runs in the top of the fourth inning and then added single talllies in the sixth and seventh before the rains hit, as Cedar Rapids downed St. Louis 8-6 in an rain-shortened game at Busch Stadium (1997).
The win allowed the Golden Grapplers to salvage the final game of the three-game series after dropping the first two.
Trailing by five, the Grapplers took St. Louis starter Steven Brault to the woodshed in the top of the fourth.
They banged out five hits, including two-run homers from Je'Von Ward and Noah Naylor.

RJ Teijeiro drove in the inning's first run with a double.
Cedar Rapids took the lead in the sixth, when Mark Vientos led off with a double off St. Louis reliever Nick Lodolo and scored on a Dominic Santana single off John Curtiss.
Teijeiro took Tim Hill deep with one out in the seventh, putting the Grapplers up 8-6.
The rains hit hard in the bottom of the seventh and never stopped as the umpire's called it, giving Cedar Rapids the win.

Record: 6-4, 1st (Tied/w. Cedar Rapids), 1 GA Des Moines and Kansas City
For the second time in as many games Jimmy Lambert tossed six innings of shutout baseball for the St. Louis River Walkers as they downed Rockford 2-0 at RFK Stadium (1962).
In his first start, Lambert worked shutout Kansas City for six innings in a game the Walkers eventually lost 1-0.
This time, against the Lightning, St. Louis came away with the win.
Lambert (1-0) allowed five hits in his six innings. He struck out three and walked seven.
St. Louis used five relievers to get through the final three innings.
John Curtiss (0.2 IP), Nick Lodolo (0.1) and Danny Grigg (0.1) got the Walkers through seventh inning.
The eighth belonged to Jake Brentz.
Edwin Diaz handled the ninth, earning his third save.
St. Louis got the only run it would need in the top of the second when Andrew Benintendi led off with a homer off Rockford starting pitcher Alex Reyes.
The game's only other run came in the sixth.
Bo Bichette led off with a single off reliever Taylor Widener.
He stole second and reached third on a passed ball by catcher Jake Holland.
Rhys Hoskins scored Bichette with a two-out single.

The St. Louis River Walkers came within one out of shutting out Rockford for the second consecutive game before settling for a 6-1 win at RFK Stadium (1962).
Alex Faedo (2-0) carried most of the load allowing no runs on three hits over the game's opening 7.2 innings.
Faedo, who at the plate hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to make it 3-0, also struck out six and walked none.

Williams Jerez got the final out of the eighth.
Derek Gordon sat down the first two batters in the ninth, but Drew Mendoza got to him for a solo homer.
Drew Ellis then grounded out to end it.
The River Walkers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, after Bo Bichette drew a lead-off walk from Lighting starting pitcher Konnor Pilkington.
He moved to second on an Edmond Americaan sacrifice bunt and scored when Jared Thomas doubled.
Faedo's two-run homer in the fourth inning off Pilkington was the sixth of his career.
Rhys Hoskins pelted a two-out homer off reliever James Carney in the fifth, making it 4-0.
Bo Bichette took reliever Rick Sessions deep for a two-run homer in the ninth, completing the scoring for the Walkers.

Walkers news: April 18 -- Rockford 4, St. Louis 3, 11 innings

Record: 7-5, 1st (Tied/w. Cedar Rapids and Kansas City), 0.5 GA Springfield
Estevan Florial's two-out homer in the bottom of the 11th inning off St. Louis reliever Nick Lodolo lifted Rockford to a 4-3 win at RFK Stadium (1962).
In his second inning of work, Lodolo retired Drew Mendoza and Jake Holland to open the 11th.
However, the third pitch he threew to Florial got turned around to the tune of 362 feet over the right-field wall for a game-winning homer.
A rough first inning for River Walkers starter Argenis Batista helped stake the Lightning to a 3-0 lead.
Batista walked two batters, three two wild pitches -- there also was an error by shortstop Vidal Brujan -- as the Lightning tallied three times without the help of a hit.
Rookie Myles Austin did all he could to get St. Louis back into it.

His solo homer off Rockford starter Dylan Cease in the second inning made it 3-1.
In the fourth, his two-out single off Cease made it 3-2.
Austin tied it in the sixth following a double by Andrew Benintendi with one of his own, his coming off reliever Josh Fleming.
Cease lasted just four innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out six and walked none.
Before Travis Krogman (1.0 IP) worked the final three innings to earn his first win of the season, four other relievers took the mound for Rockford.

Jaden Foster (1.2 IP) was the first of that ground. He was followed by Jaden Fleming (0.1), James Carney (1.0) and Taylor Widener (1.0).

Record: 7-6, 2nd (Tied/w. Des Moines and Kansas City), 1 GB Cedar Rapids
Yeo-San Park limited St. Louis to a single run over the first five innings and also drove in the game's first two runs with a single to lead Rockford to a 4-1 win at RFK Stadium (1962).
The win was the second straight for the Lightning, giving them a split of the four-game series with the River Walkers.
Park put Rockford up in the bottom of the second with a two-run single off St. Louis starting pitcher Adonis Medina.
Drew Mendoza had led off the inning with a single and Gage Canning had chased him to third with a two-out double before Park singled.
The Walkers got their lone run in the fifth, Medina doing the honors with a two-out single off Park.
Rockford got that run back in the bottom of the inning, Wili Castro taking Medina deep with a solo hoimer.
Mendoza provided the game's final run in the eighth when he took reliever Danny Grigg over the wall.
Park (1-0) pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out eight and walked none.
Four relievers -- Erasmo Pinales, Taylor Widener, Rick Sessions and Josh Felming -- all pitched an inning apiece to close it out.

The save was the first of the season for Fleming.

Walkers news: Carmona comes off IL; Schawrtz called up from Memphis

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced a pair of roster moves.
Shortstop Jean Carmona has been called up from AAA Memphis where he was on an injury rehab after suffering a knee injury during spring training.
In six games at Memphis, Carmona had batted .256 with no homers and six RBIs.
Heading down to the Redbirds will by third baseman Myles Austin.
During his brief times in the major, Austin got into five games and batted .400 with a homer and three RBIs.
In another move, the Walkers called up first baseman/third baseman JT Schwartz from the Redbirds.
He's played 11 games at AAA this season, batting .354 with two homers and 10 RBIs.
Heading down to the Redbirds will be outfielder Edwardo Oliveras.
He got into seven games as a Walker, batting .308 with an RBI.

The River Walkers grabbed the lead by scoring twice in the top of the eighth inning.
Pinch-hitter Edmond Americaan led off with a single off reliever Mitchell Kilkenny.
Bo Bichette followed with another single, and following a passed ball St. Louis had runners on second and third with no outs.
Jean Carmon drove in Americaan with the tying run with a ground out.
Fernando Tatis then put the Walkers in the lead with a sacrifice fly.
The Walkers added an insurance run in the ninth.
Rhys Hoskins scored it after leading off with a double off Snow Cats reliever Mike Shawaryn.
Singles from Larry Ernesto and Dahiandy Johnson later led him acoss the plate.
Steve Brault (1-0) allowed a run in the first but worked six scoreless innings after that to earn his first win of the season.
Overall, in his seven innings he gave up one run on four hits. He struck out six and walked one.
Jake Brentz worked a scoreless eighth inning.
Edwin Diaz allowed a homer to Hunter Barco in the ninth but still came our of it with his third save.

St. Louis jumped out to a 5-1 lead and then held off a late Twin Cities comeback to post a 7-4 win at the Metrodome (1996).
The River Walkers took it to Snow Cats starting pitcher Joe Gallo right off the bat putting their first five batters on base to open the game while building a 3-0 lead.
The inning also featured three hits and a pair of walks.
Andrew Benintendi and Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in the first two runs with RBI singles.

The third run scored when Jared Thomas hit into a double play for the first two outs of the game.
St. Louis pushed it lead to 5-1 in the fifth.
Reliever Mike Shawaryn walked the first two batters of the frame.
Both runners then moved up when Will Banfield allowed a passed ball.
Jean Carmona drove in the inning's first run with a sacrifice fly.
Larry Ernesto chased the second with a single.
Twin Cities climbed back to within 5-4, with a single run in the sixth (a homer from Mitch Bernier off St. Louis starter Jimmy Lambert) and two in the eighth (Josiah Miller with a two-run homer off Danny Grigg).
But Andrew Benintendi got both those runs back with a two-run shot of his own in the top of the ninth off Bruce DeWett.
Lambert (2-0) wasn't as impressive in this start, he had gone his first 12 innings of the season without allowing a run, but still got the job done allowing two runs on six hits over six innings.
John Curtiss worked a scoreless seventh inning before Grigg allowed Miller's homer in the eighth.,
Two Twin Cities batters got on base against Edwin Diaz in the ninth, but he didn't allow run to earn his fourth save.

Derek Gordon handled the final two innings, but did allow a two-run homer to Javier Valdes in the eighth to break up the shutout.
The Walkers took the lead on the game's fourth pitch, lead-off hitter Bo Bichette hitting a solo homer off Cats starter Mack Anglin.
It was 3-0 by the time the bottom of the fourth rolled around, Vidal Brujan driving in a pair with a triple off Anglin.
Brujan scored a run in the seventh when he doubled off reliever Eric Watkins and scored when Watkins commited an error on a ball hit by Bo Bichette.
A walk and a pair of singles allowed St. Louis to load the bases without an out in the eighth.
Jared Thomas drove in the first of two runs with a sacrifice fly.
A single by Larry Ernesto then made it 6-0.

Zach Davies handled the first 6.1 innings and a pair of relievers did the rest as Des Moines shut out St. Louis 6-0 at LaBatt Park.
Davies (2-0) allowed just three hits during his time on the mound. He struck out two and walked the same.
Vladimir Gutierrez got the final two outs of the seventh.
Ronny Carvajal took care of the eighth and ninth.

Des Moines grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first against River Walkers starter Argenis Batista.
John Lehto led off with a home run.
Andrew Foley later tripled with one out and scored on a Rafael Devers fly ball.
The rest of the scoring all came in the seventh against the St. Louis bullpen.
The inning's first three batters reached base against Nick Lodolo.
The third batter, Xavier Valentin, singled to make it 3-0.
Tim Hill took over and was greeted by an RBI double by Alex Freeland.
The ball then went to Derek Gordon.
His second pitch eluded catcher Austin Hedges and allowed Freeland to score.
John Lehto then singled, making it 6-0.

Record: 10-9, 3rd, 2 GB Cedar Rapids
Jarron Silva connected on an RBI single off St. Louis closer Edwin Diaz with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift Des Moines to a 4-3 win at LaBatt park.
Garrett Frechette scored the run after he had led off the inning with a walk from River Walkers reliever John Curtiss.
A ground out by Alex Freeland moved Frechette to second and brought Diaz into the game.
Carlos David Robinson hit a chopped out in front of the plate that was botched by catcher Austin Hedges to put runners at the corners.
Silva then drove a 1-1 pitch up the middle to score Frechette with the game winner.
Down 3-1, St. Louis had tied with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.
Pinch-hitter Vidal Brujan plated them both with a single off reliever Vladimir Gutierrez.
Harvesters starting pitcher Kellan Tulio lasted five innings, allowing one run on two hits. He struck out seven and walked none.
Seven relievers -- Andrew Perez (1.0 IP), Gutierrez (1.0), Omar Benitez (1.0), Bryan Garcia (2.0), Addison Reed (0.1) and Ronny Carvajal (0.2) -- followed him to the mound.
Carvajal (1-0) walked away with his first win of the season.

Record: 11-9, 2nd, 2 GB Cedar Rapids
Steven Brault took a shutout into the eighth innings and a pair of relievers finished it off as St. Louis downed Des Moines 4-0 at LaBatt Park.
The win allowed the River Walkers to salvage the finale of the three-game series against the Harvesters.
After getting on a two-on-nobody out in the bottom of the first inning, Brault (2-1) stood tall pitching into the eighth (7.1 innings) during which he allowed just one hit while striking out four and walknig four.
He walked the final batter he faced, Greyson Jenista, with one out in the eighth.
But Danny Grigg took over to get out of the inning unscathed.
With the Walkers having increased their lead to 4-0 in the top of the ninth, one run scored on an error the other on a bases-loaded walk, Williams Jerez got first chance to close out things in the ninth.
But after giving up a two-out double to Rafael Diaz and walked to Jackson Miller, closer Edwin Diaz got the call.
The only batter he faced, Thairo Estrada, struck out to end it.

When Larry Ernesto took reliever Kyle Marman deep in the sixth, the Walkers were up 2-0.

Walkers news: April 28 -- Springfield at St. Louis

The game between the Springfield Prairie Fighters and St. Louis River Walkers at Busch Stadium (1997) has been postponed by rain.
It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on April 29.
