OOTP 64 Bit

Hello,
Was not sure what forum to place this in but is there plans to ever make OOTP in 64 bit versions? I looked but was unable to see a version as such when downloading (if there is i apologize) however the sim and processing of simulations would be greatly increased so just curious.

No, 64 bit has nothing to do with speed, it's just the amount of memory that is available for the app. We have plenty with 32 bit, so 64 bit is not needed for OOTP. The Mac version is 64 bit already though, simply because Apple forces us to.

So, then I have a question after about 3-4 seasons of siming through I noticed a slow down in the response of when I click on a player or a menu, or even sim speed. I notice when i exit all the way out and back in it's super quick and much more responsive. What could be causing this slow down? I have a PC that is more than powerful to handle the app and nothing else running.

I7-6400K, 16GB memory, 980TI.

That sounds like memory fragmentation, probably caused by an app running in the background. Also, try to add an exception for OOTP is your virus scanner, that often is the case for slowdowns, too.

Thanks,
I know it's not your issue but how do I fix the memory fragmentation?

Try to run as few apps in the background as possible. Also in general it is always good to restart the game when you had it open for many hours, this is true for all complex apps by the way.

So it's time for a stupid question from Tej.

If the Mac version is already 64 bit, wouldn't it be easier to just make versions in one... bitrate(?) rather than continue to do it in two?

No. You have to have all DLLs that the game requires in 64 bit. And for example the eSellerate stuff is not available in 64 bit for the PC, so we could not release the game as 64 bit. And having 64 bit for Steam and 32 for eSellerate would require two separate builds, which takes a lot of time when releasing patches, so it was not an option.

Now that we have switched to Fastspring, I am sure we'll switch over to 64 bit for PC too at some point, but again, you will not feel a difference in speed or anything.

Know this is a old thread but then what causes OOTP to sit and go "Not responding" when it comes to online leagues? Both OOTP 20 and OOTP 21 does it.
