Second Round Look:
The Toronto Maple Leafs are having one of those years where injuries are at a bare minimum "Knock on wood" and all the pieces they've collected are contributing one way or another. They are still coming into the playoffs with low expectations, but they've already shot down doubters as they weren't even considered a darkhorse team to be here right now. The dominated the Ottawa Senators in the first series, even though the season record between the two was 1-3-1 in favor of the Senators. They'll prepare for the Washington Capitals in the Quarter Finals of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Leafs had the favourable wins in the seasons series 2-1-0, but are climbing an uphill battle against the Washington Capitals. Though the Leafs finished the conference higher in the standings, the Washington Capitals are expected to win the series. |

Thanks to a big game from 23yr old; Kerby Rychel, the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to take game one of the Conference Finals against the defending champions, the Buffalo Sabres. Toronto Maple Leafs Lead Series 1-0 |

The Toronto Maple Leafs came out hard in the first with 3 goals. They would go on a 7-0 run to take game two with a convincing 7-1 win over the defending champions. Kevin Shattenkirk was the dish master of the night, with 3 Assists in assisting the win. Martin Jones was given the start and saved 20/21 of the shots he faced. Toronto Maple Leafs Lead Series 2-0 |

Buffalo has taken game three with a great performance from their goalie. The Leafs were able to tie things up in the third to send it to overtime. A bad penalty by Leafs, Mitch Marner was the difference as Buffalo punished them to get the game winning goal. Toronto Maple Leafs Lead Series 2-1 |

Game Four looked to be in Buffalo's favor going into the third, but Toronto's three goal surge to end the period was the difference maker as the Toronto Maple Leafs now head home with one game away from the Stanley Cup Finals. Toronto Maple Leafs Lead Series 3-1 |

The defending Stanley Cup Champions have been knocked out after yet another 3rd period surge from the Toronto Maple Leafs to win at home and head to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1966/1967. Toronto Maple Leafs Advance With 4-1 Series Win |

The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the St. Louis Blues in the Stanley Cup Finals. They played each other twice this regular season, splitting it 1-1, so high expectations on a long series is what we will be hoping for. Toronto's Keys to Succeed: The Leafs will need big performances from Auston Matthews, Tomas Hertl, Ryan Johansen and the list goes on. The Leafs have a lot of key factors that it will be hard for St. Louis to be able to shut them down. The Leafs Defence has a packed house also, Kevin Shattenkirk had a rough season this year compared to previous seasons, but has performed extremely well in the playoffs, Morgan Rielly continues to be reliable on the PP and on the back end for his team. Dougie Hamilton earned his spot on the powerplay and hasn't disappointed. The Goalies are the key factor. They've both been getting time, which is expected when you have two goalies that could be a starting goalie for any team. So a lot of props to the coaching staff on making sure they're keeping the two goalies happy. |
