Require full minor league rosters

I am planning on adding all the correct minor leaguers to my 1976 historical game

Should I check or uncheck require full minor league rosters- I guess my question would be that if I am going to add the players (who never made the show) is it easier to create a new player once the game has started or to simply edit the players who are added to fill the rosters

If all you're doing is editing their names, heights, weights, etc.,, then you can select how many of each position can be created at one time. That would give you more control over the rosters and save you having to delete a bunch of players after editing the ones you need.

How do I do this? I started my historical season and went the minor league section and I can't edit the team to the right name or add any new players

I would really appreciate a easy walk thru on this- believe me I have searched high and low for the answer

Are you in "Commissioner" mode? A whole different set of options are available as a commissioner.
I usually create a seperate manager that is the commissioner. I have accidently deleted a few player and cloned a few other just acting as a manager with commish powers.

Ok...I am pretty frustrated but I am sure I am doing something strong

One- I downloaded 1976 pics file and only facegen are showing up so I have to manually edit ever players pic

But, more importantly (I am in commissioners mode) it is not letting me edit the minor league teams to the real names and it definitely is not letting me create new players with their real names and stats for the minor league teams...I have been sitting on this game for over a week and have not played a game yet because I want my historical replay to be just perfect....any help is greatly appreciated

I too am doing a 1976 historical replay with the AAA teams. In order to rename the teams what I did was go to the drop down box on the top line (above the word yesterday) and go to the league I wanted to start with. Select that league. Again using the same drop down menu above the word yesterday go to League Settings. In the middle column I selected edit league structure and within it I could edit any team name.

Not sure if there's a file somewhere that lists all the minor league players with their stats. The only way I know how to at least have players with their real names is to fill each team with a bunch of fictional players for each team and then having to go through and use the editor for every player. That seems like it would take forever. So maybe someone knows a better way?

Hope that helps. I'm pretty new at the game as well, so I'm still learning my way around. But that's why these forums are so good!!

Boom!

This is great ...thanks

I will work on the teams now and worry about the players later...(I am guessing I will do the work but the ghost players idea and editing them might be the best way to go)

Someone had mentioned earlier creating players without using the ghost players but I was unclear on how to do that

There were 3 "sub leagues" In 1976 AAA...I see where you can add a new team, add division...but. I don't see where you can add a new sub league....

As far as editing the players, a lot easier method is to create a fictional minor league full of fictional players then edit them. Make them all the same position or age, something to sort them easily. Then go to League Settings and click Export Rosters. This will export all rosters and free agents to a text file. Open that text file in Excel and sort out the created minor leaguers and their entire info so they are lined up in consecutive rows. Then, create an Excel file of the players you want in your database. You'll have to make sure that number of columns for your impending players matches that of the columns for the minor leaguers. In other words, they don't have to have the same numbers in the columns but the columns do have to have the same type of information in both. And keep in mind there are 147 columns of information to fill out on each player. The only exception to this is the player ID numbers. Don't change those. Otherwise, the players won't import correctly and you'll either get a bunch of bad stats or no players at all. Once you have both sheets ready, copy and paste the players you want in the database over the minor leaguers. Then, save the rosters you exported from OOTP as a .csv file and re-import it into the game. Your players should show up good as new. And if you want to edit their stats, on the same page where you exported their rosters is an option export stats. Open them with Excel and save them as .csv files when you're done editing and re-import just like the rosters.

As far as the player pictures are concerned, go to Players & Facegen in Game Settings and make sure Load Player Pictures Automatically is checked and Load Photofit is unchecked. This will tell the game to only load the real pics.

Hope this helps.

Again it gets tricky with subleagues. Here's what I did if my memory serves me correctly,,,

Go to MLB on top line above yesterday... then on the drop down go to league settings.... on the right go to available league actions drop down box... then go to add minor/feeder league.... Then add a Triple A league.... once you click it, that will add a AAA league... do that 2 more times so you create 3 triple A leagues.... then go into one of the created leagues (again through the drop down box above yesterday)...click on league settings... then click on league and teams (on the left on the blue bar)... this will allow you to name the leagues (International, PCL, American Assoc.)... After naming the league, there's also a red box above where you put in the name that you can click to edit the league structure. Which you need since 2 of the leagues (AA, PCL) have divisions and the other just has 8 teams in 1 division (IL).

1 question for you.. are you planning on using the automatic lineups/transactions function ?

So, something weird happened....I had finished adding all of the correct teams to the minor leagues (I mean everyone of them from half season thru AAA) I was doing some other things with some edits and "boom" the game crashed and I re-started it and all the work I put in was no longer there

Always save your work each step of the way. You never know when some change you make will conflict with something else and cause the game enough distress to make it shut down. What were you doing when it crashed? Had you already edited the teams to your liking?

Well, unfortunately the hits keep coming...I added (again) all the correct minor league teams to my 1976 season and in doing so I somehow released every minor league player and they are now free agents

I will get this figured out but...I think I need to take some time off before I get back in and figure this thing out

..I believe I have the spritze/gambo rosters but how can I be sure they are the correct ones I have in my franchise...and finally, if I plan on adding the real minor leaguers (thousands of them) to the 1976 season how do I export those files add the players and import them back into the game...
