Spring Training
OK, I hear a lot of talk in various posts about "spring training." I have not seen such a thing in the game, personally. But MAN would I love to have a ST to help me make some roster decisions. Can anyone please explain to me what it is and how you do it? Much appreciated and thank in advance!!
BRAVO 1/5 USHA edit: hear not here....dang I'm a goober....

There is no ST where stats are simmed, correct? Or did I miss something?

Currently Spring Training is a between-seasons event where you have a list of all players on your team, majors and minors included.
For each player, you get the option to have them work on certain categories during spring training (like hitting for average, hitting for power, velocity for pitchers, etc.). It's also the only time in the game where you can have a player learn a new position. Once you've filled out the grid that tells each player what to work on during ST, you then 'run' spring training. This improves or decreases each player's ability according to how you had things set, and there appears to be a certain amount of randomness involved in whether a player had a good or bad spring training. |

Also, I would add that the effects of spring training are pretty minimal. Don't be surprised to see a player have good spring training sessions but get no noticeable improvement in ratings.

Ah, cool! Thanks! So ST happens every year between seasons...as I am still in my first season...that is why I haven't found it yet (assuming it does NOT happen before your first season). Also, to make sure I am understanding correctly...you do not get any results on how they fared/preformed during ST, correct? So my hope to use the info to help with roster moves is not going to come to fruition, correct?

Right, the only results you will get are that the player performed well in spring training, or poorly (example message: Joe Player has good batting practice sessions!).
You won't get any stats for games played during spring training since the OOTP game does not simulate any. |

I believe that the report that displays tells you which areas the player has improved in. So the ratings are actually going up or down. You may not actually see the ratings change, though, if it's only a very minor difference.
