I was delighted to find that 2.5 suddenly started to work for me with Windows 10. One of the Windows updates must have had some kind of effect. Until just recently I could run a fight, but I couldn't create or edit fighters. Now everything seems to be working. Go figure!

Hello I'm having the same problem. The file that won't load is nations.dat. I've tried copying and pasting it from the saves, but it still won't read it. Now I'm no techie, but my guess is that the file is corrupted, and I'm guessing that any save of it on my computer is similarly corrupted. Does that check out, and if so, what do I do now?

I mean if I'm right, I think that getting one from an outside source might work, but I'll defer to those of you who know what I'm up against better than I do.

Bump. I've copied Jersey Jim's fix for Title Bout crash, but this thread should be stickied or something. Maybe archive the actual fix in the tech section of the forum.

I've had this problem come up more than once. A techie friend of mine (he works in IT) told me to right click the game's desktop icon, go to properties, and change the compatibility to the version of Windows that was in use when the game came out. I couldn't find which version that was, so I made an educated guess that it was Win Vista.

I can't swear that this worked, but I haven't had any issues like this since then. Don't know at this point whether it's solved, or it just hasn't happened lately.
