Free Agency woes

Because the deflation problem persists in 5.0 in the UFAs, and the cap never expands, by 2023 or so, the only UFAs of consequence seem to be goalies. (see screenshot)

May I suggest you simply put an escalator on the salary cap of 1% to 3% and have the 5-star players be unwilling to settle for less than the signings of the previous year.

Which version of the game was the save started in? I'm checking test saves in the 2020's from games started with 2.2.36 (or the internal builds preceding it) and there's a normal distribution of free agents. And is that a modern game with all the leagues, or a custom one?

Sorry, Jeff. I didn't see your reply.

I've replicated the problem a few times. The version I am currently using is V 5.0 Build 28. Am I behind? I am now 14 years into my career and the problem has eased somewhat, though the top salaries seem to lock out at about $9M, which is far behind the $12.5 of Connor McDavid that's there at the start of the game.

While here, I'll mention another issue on the RFA/UFA front. I've had a regular problem with young stars coming off their initial $925k contracts who demand $4M when you first try to extend them. I might want to see how the season goes, but I am not going to let them walk as UFA, so I will make a qualifying offer. That offer seems to sit there until the end of the season and when you look at the player on June 30, it clearly says he's an RFA and that there's an offer in place (I've even reissued the offers on June 30). But on July 1, they are UFAs, even though they're only 22 or 23 years old.

I know these rules of free agency must be real advanced in programming... I still find oddities in custom leagues for OOTP ..

So i try to be merciful ...

But I can not say it is acceptable that in a custom game ... the free agents are not being signed....

Here is a picture of the talent on the championship team from year 1 ... versus the talent in free agency ... in all transactions ...

only 1 ,5 star player has been signed ....

ALSO, I hav expanded the league by eight .... the staff are not lookign right as there are more scouts and only one assistant coach ....

Also with these expanded rosters... I actually created 22 players for each ... BUT no free agency moves (only one in total) ... so these teams have zero reserve players ....

I was hoping the AI would fill the reserve players with free agency...

color me dissapointed!!!
