Modern Day SF Giants
I suspect this dynasty will be poorly written, sporadic, and move very slowly. My real goal is to force myself to dive deeper into the minutia, within the Giants, and possibly a bit around the league. I'm using the default MLB Quickstart with only a few personalizations.
Injury frequency is high (Realistic Modern Day). Scouting is very high, but player actual ratings aren't displayed. Trading difficulty is on hard. League evolution is on but only team relocation (which will be turned off after the Astros move), more/less offense, and more/less pitching remain checked. I'm playing as GM leaving both minor league and major league lineups/pitching/and depth charts up to the managers. I will handle all promotions and demotions, signings, and trades. |

Initial week
March 27th
Minor league managers were instructed to play prospects over veterans, without exceptions. International scouting team is deployed to Canada, Japan, Venezuela, Cuba. Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, Germany, Bulgaria, and Thailand. National budget remains unchanged at $4.56M, with all the money being put into the amateur draft (it makes it a bit like stats only, where I can still have a strong amateur draft). Player development increased by 50% to $12M. March 28th Brandon Belt is promoted to MLB. Charlie Culburson is sent to Fresno (AAA) Larry Baer, the owner, expects the team to play winning baseball. ESPN predicts the Giants will go 83-79 and miss the playoffs. Gary Brown is the only Giant to rank in Baseball America's top 100 at 35. Joaquin Arias, Boof Bonser, Juan Ciriaco, Eric Hacker, George Kontos, Todd Linden, Mitchell Lively, Shane Loux, Jean Machi, Scott Munter, Nick Noonan, Andy Reichard, Jason Stevenson, Tom Vessella, Angel Villalona, Craig Whitaker, and Matt Yourkin were all offered minor league extensions. Michael Wuertz, Yhency Brazoban, Jeff Bailey, Mark DiFilice, Reggie Willits, and Michael Gonzalez were offered a minor league contract. On opening day, the Mariners beat the A's 4-3, with Yoenis Cespedes going 0-4 with the hat trick in his debut. March 29th Mariners win again, 6-1. Jesus Montero hits 2 HR's in the win. Cespedes left in the second inning with an injury. The severity is currently unkown. March 30th Michael Wuertz (AAA), Yhency Brazoban (AA), Jeff Bailey (AA), Mark DiFilice (A: San Jose), Reggie Willits (A: San Jose), and Michael Gonzalez (A: Augusta) all signed and sent to the minors. April 1st All minor league extensions signed. Cespedes was placed on the DL, and is expected to miss 7 weeks with an oblique strain. April 4th In the only game of the day, the Marlins beat the Cardinals 6-3. Stanton starts his power stroke early hitting a HR in the win. |
