Well; spent the day trying different things to figure out why the game was letting Portland sign all the Stars - and to decide if I could let that happen. Bottom line, no. Allowing Portland to basically sign the cream of Seattle's powerhouse team is totally unfair to the other three teams in the league and shifts power in their favor for no good reason.

I will live with the fact the game doesn't record in the player's file when the signing took place, and even up the distribution of the players by manually signing for the Angels, Beavers, Seals, and Oaks in that order (reverse of 1906 standings) for the first 5 rounds - then let the game take over from there. That will distribute the first 20 free agents more fairly. Picks will be made to fill the worst positional rated players with the best FA available.

Note to self: OOTP doesn't handle a reduction in the number of teams very well without significant help.

Wouldn't you know it - all that trouble to keep players like Harry Lumley in the PCL and he breaks his ankle - possible return in June-July.

Has anyone done a quickstart of the PCL yet? I'm interested to play this, but frankly a little overwhelmed by how to make it work. I'll post the same question over in the Mods forum.

I'm interested in a PCL-only version and in playing with the new database alongside the ML.

Thanks for any info. Love your thread, btw.

Thanks for the comments!

The link at the beginning of this thread connects to the DB I'm using - the one Cooley and Stritze put together (with a few minor adjustments). It is a PCL-Only DB - but running alongside the MLB is problematic since any player going from one legue to the other is added correctly but is not removed from the originating league. that half of the equation has to be done manually.

That's why I decided to play the PCL in it's own "isolated" world until 1957. Players would come into the PCL but never leave - unless they retired. Once I am in 1957, then I will attempt to set up a 3 division league (American, National, and Pacific) and play on from there. To do so will mean to erase all the MLB histories prior to 1957 since the real MLB history of that time would include players that played in my PCL (1903-1957). It's not the perfect solution, but much easier than to manually track each player year to year between the PCL and MLB - would spend more time making manual adjustments than playing the game

Thanks, Henry. I'll give it a try. I missed the QS you'd made. When it was just files over in the mods thread, I was daunted.

If you do go ahead with it, let us know how it goes - lots of ways to play this thing - interested in variations.
