1871 outfielders (Spritze's DB)

I'm getting my super perfect league setup to start in 1871. I'm using Spritze's and Gambo's db from last year and spritze's updated work for 2013.

The 1871 outfielders all come in to the game as only being right fielders. Is it required that I change them to the outfield position they played or change some to the other outfield positions... or will the game just sort these players out putting them in a position?

I'm not doing recalc, but development for this game.

Cheers!

Bryce Harper gives me a tingle.

The game will sort them out but based on 1990's usage patterns.

FYI - in 1871 the best OF played LF - Second best CF - worst RF.

Cool. I was hopeful such would be the case. Kind of like how a softball outfield arrays itself.

Isn't it currently impossible to use a modded db in v13?

No it is not as long as it contains a set of the correct odb files.

Right. But in another thread I thought it was determined that Markus is the only one who knows the secret squirrel sauce required of the ODB files, and therefore, the only db options are the ones that come with the game: the standard Lahman one and the park neutered Garlon/Spritze one.

Am I misunderstanding?

Markus is the only one who allows ODB creation. It is covered by a non-disclosure agreement so that it is not disclosed without his express written permission. That is the "secret sauce" part.

Neither I nor any of the others who have been disclosed per the above have any idea how it works. It is pretty much magic but without the girl in the skimpy costume (unless you consider Andreas for that part).

There are if you use the Spritze High School db or the Gambo non-high school db. For OOTP12 and/or OOTP13.

Ok... So, if I am using one of the in-game db's or another db that just so happens to come w an odb file, then I am good. If, however, I want to use another db - like, for example - a hybrid that I have cobbled together myself - I am not good and therefore will need to be content with OOTP 12. Yes?

ODB or Stats ?

I believe I replace the Stats folder when I import your DB,but when I start a league do I point to Historical ODB (as in the past) or do I point it to Stats (or Master) ??
Thanks Much

As in the past which befits an ancient one.

Lol

LOL---Well said.
One last question--I hope.
Does your latest "Random debut" work in 13 ?----and does it load the same way ?----Annnnnddddd do you have a "Random Debut" DB,no Japanese ?-----annnddddd--most important to me--I use your DB in 12,if I change your DB in 12,to the "Random Debut" DB-will it work in my existing league, with next draft ? (started in 1939--now in 1942--I play out games, takes some time).
I hope these questions make sense, but then again I am "Ancient"
Thanks Much For Your Time

I think it goes to right file/folder/whatever by default per my checking the imports of different historical years.

I know I've not changed anything in the setup to see Negro Leaguers be listed as free agents at the start of say 1901 or 1928.

It should be noted that the new OOTP13 Spritze database seems to do a much better job of importing 1871 players than either the previous version or the Lahman.
