Was hoping someone would rate Zuri Lawrence. Type of guy who will fight anyone. Although I haven't tested him yet, an overall rating of 3 would seem about right.

Charlie Collett
England Rating 1 Heavyweight 1940-50 40 wins / 20 losses / 2 draws / 31 KO Hometown/Birthplace: Hemel Hempstead, England Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Collett started out 16-7-1,11KO in his first 5 years fighting mainly in Watford, England against the fellow local club fighters. In July 1945 he knocked out Len Bennett in the 4th round. Over the next 5 years, Collett became much more active in the ring compiling a 24-13-1,20KO record. The level of competition increased as he traveled about other parts of England. He never fought outside his native homeland though. During that second five years he fought Bennett 3 more times defeating him twice, lost three times to Reg Andrews, drew once and defeated once Al Marson. Collett also won fights against George James, Jim Wilde, Hugh McDonald, and Ben Valentine while loosing bouts to Alf Brown, Jack Gardner, Don Cockell and Ray Wilding. |

Reg Andrews
England Rating 1 Heavyweight 1942-53 I'm thinking someone posting a rating for this guy somewhat recently, but, couldn't find the posting. So If I duplicated someone's efforts, sorry for that. Here's my take on Andrews anyway. 35 wins / 12 losses / 4 draws / 9 KO Hometown: Streatham, England Birthplace: Barnehurst, Englan Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Andrews started his career in 1942 with an 8 round decision over paddy Roche and then in August lost by 9th round TKO to Arthur (Ginger) Sadd. At that time Andrews then went into service during WWII for the next 2-1/2 years serving in Greece, Sicily and Italy. In February 1945 Andrews resumed his career with a 6 round decision over Charlie Bundy. Andrews then fought over the next 8 years quite an array of the middle to upper echelon of English LHW/HW's. Victories included over Charlie Collett three times, Len Bennett twice while also fighting Bennett to a draw and one fight that ended in a NC, Ernie Woodman(and also fought him to a draw), Jack Smith, Gerry McDermott three times, Lloyd Barnett Twice, Nick Fisher, Gunnar Nilsson, Robert Eugene, Don Scott, Simon Templar, and Karel Sys. Andrews lost to Alf Brown in February 1947 in a bout for the British (South East Area) Heavyweight Title. He also lost fights to Jack London twice, Johnny Williams, Johnny Arthur, Louw Strydom, and Mark Hart. After the win over Karel Sys in Jan. 1953 Andrews lost his last three fights that same year, first to Mark Hart and then twice was stopped by Jack Hobbs. Andrews hung the gloves up after that. |

Jack Hobbs
England Rating 2 Heavyweight 1950-54 15 wins / 3 losses / 0 draws / 13 KO Hometown: Stepherds Bush, England Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto On April 25th 1950 Hobbs fought in a Heavyweight Competition to begin his career. He Ko'd Fred Powell in round 1, stopped Johnny Francis in round 2 and KO'd Jock MacVicar in round 1. Hobbs then won 4 more fights by stoppages, once each in the next 4 months. After that he then quit fighting for almost 3 years. In April 1953 he stepped back in the ring finally but was stopped in the first round by Hugh Ferns when he suffered a cut eye. Over the next year and 5 months Hobbs won 8 and lost 2 fights, one a 2nd round disqualification to Hugh Ferns for an alleged low blow. He won fights against Joe Crickmar, Reg Andrews twice, Jock MacVicar, Simon Templar, Jose Gonzalez Sales, Prosper Beck and Young Al Bernard. Hobbs last career fight came in September 1954 against Johnny Williams in an eliminator bout for the British Heavyweight title. Williams stopped Hobbs in the 7th round. |

Charel Baert
England Rating 1 Light Heavyweight 1938, 47-51 8 wins / 9 losses / 0 draws / 4 KO Hometown: Newcastle Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Baert fought Battling Charlie Parkin(110-92-12,38KO), a well traveled middleweight from Manchester, England in May and Sept 1938. Baert won the first fight by first round KO, but then Parkin KO'd Baert in the 3rd round in the second fight. Baert then turned away from boxing until 1947. In July 1949 he lost by 8th round KO to Dave Davis for the British (Northern Area) Light Heavyweight title. In October of that year Baert climbed into the ring against Bert Gilroy who KO'd Baert in the 4th round. Baert's last career bout came in March 1951 when he again took on Dave Davis for that Northern Area title. Davis KO'd Baert again, though it took till the 12th round. |

George James
Wales Rating 1 Heavyweight 1933-49 28 wins / 18 losses / 3 draws / 21 KO Birthplace: Cwm, Wales Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto James' career starting out against the local club fighters was not all that great compiling a 10-5-1 record in his firs 2-1/2 years of boxing. Then after suffering a 5th round KO loss to Zachary Nicholas, things started to turn for the better. James won 16 of his next 18 fights, the non win bouts being draws. Those wins included against Alf Robinson in October 1937 and in February 1938 he defeated Jim Wilde for the vacant Welsh Heavyweight Title when Wilde was DQ'd in the 15th round. In September of that year he stopped Ben Foord in the 9th round. A month later he won his 16th fight in that span giving him a 26-5-3,19KO record. James had been stopped only twice. In December James started making his move up in competition when he took on former British Commonwealth HW champion Larry Gains who was entering the twilite of his career. James took GAins the distance but ended loosing the 12 round decision. He followed that with another 12 round decision loss to another English heavyweight great, Jack London. A month later in May 1939 James looses for the 3rd straight time, a 9th round TKO to Manuel Abrew. A couple months later he successfully defends his Welsh HW title with an 11th round TKO over Jim Wilde, but it's the only bright light in a dismal 2-13-0,2KO slide of his career started with those three previous losses. James wins only one more fight while loosing 10 more including again to Larry Gains, Arthur Saad, London for a second time, Bruce Woodcock, Charlie Collett, Len Bennett and finally in his last career bout he's KO'd in the 2nd round by Dennis Powell loosing his Welsh HW title to Powell, in August 1949. The Bennett and Powell defeats came 2 plus years layoff after his Collett loss in July 1946. |

Ok, without going out of the thread, I see your post Chris plus my earlier ones, but if I leave this and go to the TBCB General Discussions thread and then come back into the HW boxers thread, none of that is there until I do another post?
I didn't change anything as far as I know? Rocco |
