CPU benching key players

Many times during my single player career, opponents bench several of their key players... Like 2 or 3 of their top 6 batters, even if it's an important game against a close rival. Global at-bat totals look fine (though I have about 4-5 players in the league top30), it seems to mostly affect the games I play.

Has anyone noticed this? Is it a known issue, maybe something I can find a fix for?

You really need more data. Since you played these games did you check if the players in question were tired? The AI can only react, not plan. If an opponent player is past the threshold they will be rested no matter who they play. If the AI team was deep into a stretch of consecutive games, several players may have needed rest at the same time

Did you check AI platooning and your pitcher handedness? The AI team may have aggressive platooned lineups that sit very good LH batters against LHP. If this matched up with tired players then it could look bad to you.

Did this happen in consecutive games against the same opponent? You say it seems to happen when you play out games. If so then you should have noticed that. If it didn't happen in consecutive games then I'd suggest that it's insignificant.

If it did occur in consecutive games make sure fatigue and platooning are not the cause.

Hope this helps.

Is the other team's manager Greg Popovich?

Thanks for your answer. Honestly, I didn't record any data, I just wanted to get some feedback whether it's something others have also noticed (and is a known issue) or is it only that I became 'oversensitive' about it and have false perception.

I'll be watching and provide more data once I get it.

It may be an issue but we humans tend to overestimate the occurrence rates of many things. It's not been mentioned often in recent versions.

I once saw the AI bench Stan Musial in the first two games of the World Series - in a season when he hit .400! I thought maybe it was a fluke in the first game when he only pinch-hit, but when the same thing happened in Game 2, I had to fix it. There's winning cheap, but then there's winning a little TOO cheap.
