Startup Question
I want to start a league in 1900 thats fictional but still follows the historical trends (Deadball era, Presteriod era...). How would I start that one out?

I don't know if there is a way to get the game to do it or not.
I do know that there is a spreadsheet available here OOTP Misc. Files Baseball Chronology This spreadsheet shows what teams moved where and when and how stadiums changed, etc, etc. In commissioner mode, I think you can institute most of these changes |

This is how I would guess is the easiest way to do it:
Using the creation wizard, select 1900 as your starting year and then make sure the teams are to your liking in the next step and add in your minor leagues if you want them in the step after that. For Step 4, set player development to Use Talent Ratings & OOTP Development Engine, make sure the three boxes on that page are checked, then go to Step 5 and Step 6, setting yourself up as manager in the last one. THEN, click the Advanced Mode button. Select your league and go to the Historical Settings tab where you will uncheck the Automatically Import Historial Rookies. You can further play with rules in advanced mode (such as lowering the draft size if you don't use minor leagues), or just start the game. Then you're going to want to go to the OOTP dropdown menu at the top of your screen and into Game Setup, then League Setup > Functions. In the top/middle of the option screen you'll see Fill All Teams With Fictional Players. After that, you should be all set. |

So if I was playing a fictional league, there is no way to easily go through that transition? How about financially? Will that progress through time?

If you create the game as a historical league first and then add the fictional players, it should give you historical expansion, eras (deadball, live ball, world war two, the pitching of the 60s, etc.) and financials without any further tinkering. Your best bet is to create the league and then just take the time to go through the Setup menus and see what your options are to personalize it to what you want to see.
