Double-switch backups possible?

I'd like my starting second baseman to back up my shortstop when the latter is tired; my 2b is better than my utility-infielder at ss, and my utility-infielder is a good 2b. Is it possible to set this up in the auto-depth chart? As best I can tell, the AI refuses to use a backup who is in the starting lineup.

There's no problem with doing it if you play out the games. (It's what I do.) I don't know how it works if you're simming. The game does allow you to set your starting second baseman as your first substitute shortstop. You're saying that the computer manager is ignoring that?

Just an idea, but try setting your second baseman to primary backup at short, then set him to 'every fifth game'. Don't list anyone as second backup or third backup shortstop. Set your utility guy as primary backup second baseman, and also set him to 'every fifth day'. (You could set second or third backup for that position.)

I hope that works.
