Noobie Question about Human vs. Human

I am about to start a 16-team online league with a friend, whereas 14 of the teams will be managed by computer. We were looking forward to head-to-head play since we are in the same division, but I've just read (at least I think I did) that human vs. human in-game managing is not a feature in OOTP13. So, what can we do? What is common in most online leagues where human managers like to manage play-by-play controls throughout a game? Am I correct that two humans cannot do this in the same game, and if so, is one of us going to have to sacrifice and just let the computer manage his team in that game?
Thank you for your help.

In online leagues one computer does all the siming. The other GMs submit their lineups (the usual sim length is 7-10 days) and the host computer imports them and sims the next period. There is no possibility of remote play by play handling, not now or probably ever.
