Question regarding game logs...
So I know that the game log shows the result of each pitch (whether ball, strike, in play, foul, etc.), and shows the position of the baseball if put into play using the standard Hit Location encoding scheme. My question is this... is there any way to see what the actual ball/strike pitch was?
If I watch the simulation of the game, I can see where the pitch goes and how fast it is. But I have yet to see this information translated out of the simulation into a file that I can open and view. Can someone tell me if this file exists or there are options to make this information viewable? If not, it looks like I'll have another suggestion to make. |

don't game logs show you what pitches are thrown and if ball or strike? i don't think location is viewable but I'm pretty sure it indicates balls and strikes some way

I think the poster is asking for the pitch ID, not whether it was a ball or strike (balls and strikes are clearly shown in the game log). In other words, was the pitch a fastball, change up, slider, etc.?
