A Few Questions Before I Purchase
I'll keep them short and simple so that they will be easy to answer:
1. Does it cost money to play in an online league? 2. After I purchase, can I create a league with one other user and 28 CPUs? 3. When will OOTP 10 be released? Should I just wait? 4. Are the 2009 rosters released yet? When will they be released? Thanks, all help appreciated. |

An online league?
If yes I'd suggest joining a well respected existing league(s) to learn the ropes. That would also help you with contacts in order to get started with your own. I don't know much about running online leagues.

I don't think we understand your question. What kind of league do you mean? If you just want to start a league by yourself or with your buddy, then the game has a wizard to help you. If you want to start an online league, you are going to need ftp server space (something you are probably going to have to buy).
My best suggestion - give the demo a spin and work out a lot of the questions by trial and error with occasional reading of the forum. |

Okay my bad, I wasn't clear enough. I don't want to be in an online league in the sense that there would be 29 other owners. Me and a buddy just want to be in a league together, but we live far apart so it would have to be online. Is there a way to do that with just the software purchase?

Yeah, one of you would have to be the commish and the other would have to email his upload file to the commish. The commish would do the actual simming, then send the league files back to the other person. The league files can get a little big; that's why most people use an ftp server.
It's a little complex if you are brand new to the game, but the game has the ability to do this. |

Depends how fast you want to go. Usually, leagues with humans sim a game week at a time, then you can email the league files to your buddy, then you both make what ever moves you want (lineup changes, move around players in the minors, whatever...), he emails his upload file back, then rinse and repeat.
You can go as fast as you want. If you guys can make changes everyday, then you can do it everyday. Most leagues sim 2-4 times/week on average. |

Plus, I wouldn't even consider emailing the files unless your service provider gives you an awful lot of bandwidth for free. The league file will get large. You're better off to get a web site (plenty of free ones out there) and ftp your league files that way. I strongly recommend you join an online league and ask plenty of questions of the Commish on how things are done. It's not really complicated, but can seem overwhelming to someone who's new when first starting out. |
