Scheduele needed, 2 subleagues, five teams a piece
hey all
As the title says it's two subleagues, with five teams a piece. I'd like for it to start April 1st, have roughly 25 games a pop, have the all star game on July 1st, and end mid to late sept ember before playoffs. I'm thinking 162 games for the year, with twice as many in their own league as outside it (aka inter league play on). Playoffs are best fo seven with no wild card. If anyone coudl do this I'd be very appriciative. Thanks in advance! |

10 total teams? Uneven subleagues? Could be done but challenging. I would recommend the following setup:
28 (14h/14a) against each team in league - 116 games 10 (5h/5a) against other league - 50 games - total games 166 then you could just cut 4 games (2h/2a) off the schedule to get it down to 162 games. or 27 (14h/13a and some 13h/14a) in league for 108 games 11 (5h/6a and some 6h/5a) against other league for 55 games - total games 163 then you would just cut 1 game off of each team to give the team a 81h/81a schedule. Schedule 1 is easier to do then 2. Both would be difficult. I used to have a nice spreadsheet to start schedules with but now I do all my own manually. Generally takes me about a week to do each one at 3-4 hours in the evening so I don't do too many any more. |

There is another choice: a 23-14 format.
23 games x 4 league opponents = 92 games 14 games x 5 interleague opponents = 70 games The above would have a home/away series breakdown like this: 12/11 : 3-3-3-3 / 3-3-3-2 12/11 : 3-3-3-3 / 3-3-3-2 11/12 : 3-3-3-2 / 3-3-3-3 11/12 : 3-3-3-2 / 3-3-3-3 7/7 : 4-3 / 4-3 7/7 : 4-3 / 4-3 7/7 : 4-3 / 4-3 7/7 : 4-3 / 4-3 7/7 : 4-3 / 4-3 This works out to a total of 52 series, which is a perfect number for a 162-game schedule played over 26 weeks. There would be 4 two-game series, 38 three-game series, and 10 four-game series. |

To remove the 2-game series means reducing the number of series overall. The standard major league approach is two series per week. With a 26-week season that means 52 series. Having an All-Star break means one week will have three series played in it in compensation, and that naturally requires two 2-game series (i.e. a week consisting of 2-2-3 series). |

LGO's schedule would be idea1.... I was looking for ways of having 2x or more of the games in the division, but since this is not a necessity LGO's schedule setup would be ideal....

2 - fifteen clubs 3 - nine clubs 4 - five clubs 5 - one club That works out to an average of 2.73 two-game series scheduled per team. Basically, it's near the minimum number of two-game series needed to complete the schedule. |

This one was already in the schedule pack.....
10 team schedule, 162 games Designed for the following configurations: 2 leagues, each with 1 division, each with 5 teams 92 games in the division (46H/46A) - 23 games against other 4 teams of division (11-12H/12-11A) 70 games outside league (35H/35A) - 14 games against other 5 teams (7H/7A) Note this configuration means at least one team in each division must be playing outside the division at all times, and this necessitates a couple of very small offday quirks noted below Intradivisional series almost all 3-games, except a few 4-game series and a handful of 2-game series Other series even mix of 3- & 4-game series Offdays mostly only Mondays & Thursdays, except at All-Star Break. However, to get offdays & 2-game series & required outside division games to work out a couple of teams in each division have consecutive offdays the first week of the season. Also, in some cases teams have Tue/Wed 2-game series with offdays on both the Mon before & Thu after. No homestands or roadtrips longer than 14 games No team plays more than 20 straight days without an offday All game times set at 7pm ET Last edited by SandMan; 05-23-2012 at 12:08 PM. |
