Question about Historical Challenge

For the historical challenges, is the FHM development and retirement engine turned on? Or does the game recalculate ratings after each season automatically? Not sure if this question has ever been answered, but it feels more like the game recalculates the ratings.

Based on my experience I am 100% sure it recalculates...

what does that mean? will my (and my staff's) coaching prospects ratings and the settings of the training have no actual influence on development? Is the total ice time taken into account? Is the progression fixed?

Development is turned off when recalculation is on. Player ratings are adjusted to their historical levels at the beginning of a new season.
