States as Nations in OOTP13?

With using OOTP13, has anyone had luck in creating a world in which the US states are listed as nations which would require each state to have its own in-game flag?

I am interested in using the states as nations concept with no other world countries available as "my world". I'm not sure if editing the World Default file to have only 50 states/nations would work or I would be required to use the stock World Default file and I would have to add my "50 nations" and all of their cities, to that file.

Any help/suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I turned Florida into a nation. I used its current state flag. So I guess you could turn them all into a nation.

But if I'm reading you correctly, you'd like to turn every US state into a nation and have no other existing countries in it? That seems very doable, unless I'm missing something. That wouldn't be so different from creating a completely fictional world, except you're using the name of states as countries. And also, you might have to edit the state-turned-nations and their cities' IDs.

Yes, I would like to delete everything in the World Default file and just use the 50 states as "my world".

That way a team can represent a state/nation and I can easily control that the players on a particular team are all from the state/nation, which would equal no foreigners.

My main concern was whether I could do this my way or if I was going to be forced to add the 50 states as nations to the already existing "real world".

Don't know if you've solved this already, but I have the same issue. Go to OOTPMods.com, go to "Other" and download "States as Nations" mod. Delete everything else but the states in the nations file, and delete everything except for the last copy of the U.S. cities (they are duplicated in the mod). That should do the trick. Right now I am adding nations for D.C. and the territories.

Thanks for the suggestion however, the States as Nations file you are referring to will work in OOTP11, OOTP10, OOTP9, etc. That version will not work in OOTP12, OOTP13, or OOTP14. Trying to get the World Default set up with the States as Nations is a totally different beast and is a lot more complex process which I am still trying to figure out.

Oops. I run OOTP8, so I don't have any issues. Good luck though.

You could do it both ways. So yes, you could do it your way.

You'd have to edit the states and nations ids, I believe. You'd also have to add ids to the new states, or state, if you don't mind one state per nation. You'd also have to add baseball qualities and capitals. Might be tedious but seems doable.

Wasn't sure how often this thread would be checked so I asked Bottom a question via pm instead and we wound up finishing the US states and Canada provinces and territories as nations through the pms. Figured I'd mention it just in case anyone else was planning to do it.
