I'm going to buy a MacBook Pro 2018 and install Windows 10 Pro with Boot Camp.

Which OS would be better to play the game?

macOS? Windows 10 Pro on the Mac?

macOS has the faster file system, OOTP will run simulations quicker there. On the other hand, 3D on a PC has a higher frame rate. So, it depends on what's important to you.

I have a copy of OOTP on my Mac and it runs just fine. As Markus said, if you like to watch the games play out, a PC is (slightly) better (although you're not going to get that better performance, necessarily, if you're running a Mac emulating Windows 10). My experience running it in the native Mac OS is that it's smooth and hasn't crashed on me yet.

And you will be paying double for the same specs you can get on a computer built for windows.

Plus you Mac will never ever be able to have its hardware upgraded. And its video card is a joke if you are at all interested in doing any type of gaming besides OOTP. Even in OOTP the Mac gpu is generations behind.

For the 13 inch mac book pros:

Their processors are only Intel 7th Dual Core and the Quad core max. While top of the line Intel laptop chips are now 6 core to 8 core and are 8th generation Intel.

Only the fully maxed out top of the line Macbook Air has an 8th gen i7 that is a quad core.

only 16gb ram max.

The 15 inch mac books pros:

They fair much much better but costs can be insane.

8th generation and you can get 6 core i7s and i9. And 32gb of ram can be selected. And a 1tb ssd.

Now with all of those options you are going to be in $4000 range and your video card is still absolute trash.

While you can buy a gaming laptop MSI, Asus, Gigabyte with all of the above and 9th gen chips (that the current gen) with a RTX 1080 the 1 of the most powerful consumer GPU's of all time for under $3000 if you do your homework.

Thats $2750. Under the base cost of the top 15 inch mac book pro.


Also remember you will need Apple care insurance and Apple accidental coverage. Cause if any hardware breaks their is no replacing it. If you drop or spill or any kind of damage you are out of luck unless you want to pay huge service bills. So accidental insurance is a must.

Example if you crack a 2014 apple screen it'll run you $500. That's 5 years old. A 5 year old windows laptop you might be looking at $75

Just imagine cracking a 2019 apple or a spill what it would cost out of pocket with no apple care and no accidental insurance?

Now if OOTP is the only game you are going or you have other reasons to buy Apple. That is a different story.

But straight gaming Apple loses every time. In term of performance per dollar Apple loses. As to got the top intel chip you must buy their most expensive laptop to get the 6 core intel monster.

If you wanted an 8th gen 6 core intel chip and didnt want the RTX 1080 but say an entry level gpu like the GTX 1050 TI you would be closer to the $750 price range.

You may or may not needed any of that information. But figured I should provide it anyway.
