A bit of help with scouting

It's clear that a large amount of effort is spent in designing the scouting system. A huge amount of detail and research is available but I feel like I'm missing something.


What exactly is this adding to the game ?- I can review all the scouting reports but ultimately it really does not seem to matter until you draft, at which time you will be reviewing the current ratings.


Honestly, I am not familiar with all the world leagues and would have no idea how to assign scouts so I just let my assistant do it. So the scouting reports roll in and you can review and then move on. I can't sign anyone and if I have a good team realize I will not get a top prospect anyway, so not sure I see any benefit.


I feel like I would be just as well served to suddenly be presented with the prospect list just prior to the draft. Yet - -I must be missing something... right ?


So how can I really take advantage of this functionality ?
