19th Century historical sim project

I'm going to start a replay from 1871 using rosters and transaction as accurate as possible. The only issue I have is with the almanac not working. I will be resonsible for making trades but rookies will go to their team automatically. Expansion will be handled by the game and go according to history.
There is a lot of confusion with 19th century transaction dates. You can't just copy a transaction file off the net and expect it to work as good as the modern era. The game has trouble handling 19th century transactions. You dont have the luxury of an abundance of players so if a player is release or traded before a team has finished it's season your roster is screwed up. So I have made a simplified approach. A player will only appear on a team in which he played for that year.
All player/manager release will happen first on a sim date before free agent signings.
I have found a system that seems to work as I had no problem playing 1871-1872 but for the almanac.
I restarted and have concluded the 1871 regular season.
I will try to post some stats when I get home.
If your curious about any player or how I am doing something just let me know. You may have a better idea.
My goal is to show that a more 19th century simming can be improve and automated in the game.

I've never played pre 1900 - does the Almanac in game not function pre 1900?

I think it does if you use the database that comes with the game. Problem is that database doesn't allow pre 1901 rookies to go to original teams because a lot of the teams are not the actual historical teams. I think this was done to let people start a 19th century league. I just modified that database so rookies will go to their orginal teams and expansion would give you the actual historical teams of that year.

I save before 1st regular season and at end of season before the offseason. Finally at start of new season after all transactions have been made.

I can try make a quick start but you would need the stats file I use or it won't work unless you modify the database. I'll be happy to share anything I have as members have always shared with me.

Managers but in name only. i had to block the AI from having control of roster transactions or else teams would sign players that werent historically accurate.

Pretty realistic for an 1871 replay.

That would be a reflection on ootp. Like I said all Im doing is putting players on correct teamms. I haven't normalized the database or any special tweaking.
All I do other than add historical managers is go through my spreadsheet and release or sign a player to the correct team.
Gonna try and run 1872 afterwork.

Sorry but i cant use the almanac till 1901 and im not sure how else to post these stats. Im starting to get a better idea of running it more smoothly.
I learned that i have to check the season start date and then import the schedule or else the schedule will be off. I also had to check the league total year for 1872. First time i ran 1872 a pitcher had 172 strikeouts.
I think though that these things could be automatic. I just have to watch them because the schedule has to match or else my transaction list would be off.

Finished 1875 and noticed the schedule was off. Philadelphia went 60-14 when i noticed they had played 77 games. Will have to double check schedules. Once the schedule matches i should be able to run 1875 quicker. What takes so long is matching everything up the first time through. You run into problems like the schedule or a player being traded to a team after they have folded.
